MB, scopes are nice, but I also think that Metalic sights should be mastered FIRST. Gotta run a cross the street for a minute, be right back.

Randy, LMAO. I dunno? kerplunk?
MB- I see your point, when someone is just learning they should avoid slapping an electronic sight on and going, 'cause if it fails, they're out of the fight. Iron sights and findementals should never be forgotten. The way our M16s were set up in basic, our M68 CCOs were cowitnessed with our irons. It was nice, if you got sloppy the aimpoint was forgiving, and at the same time it acted like a giant ghost ring sight if the dot went out.

I am big on fundamentals. The Eotech seems to kill fundamentals since there is no need for a good grip, cheek weld or sight picture. Once it is sighted in where the dot is the bulit goes. Its fast.

Last one, maybe. What do you call a man with no arms and no legs riding a bicycle?

It definitely does make the basics go out the window, but that's why our military training regimen requires attention to iron sight proficiency too. Iron sights generally don't break, whereas optics like to quit working at the worst possible time.
That speed is also the advantage, and it makes a huge difference, especially with shooting on the move, or firing around weird shaped barriers. I loved how much faster on target the M68 made me in basic. I could be more precise with the iron sights, but man did it knock down those pop up targets quick.

Mb, I was confused for a bit until I googled it. thought it was one of those 30MM round scopes like the aim point.

I remember reading an article where professional pistol shooters would have special "modules" made for their sights. The DOT was actually an outlind of a B27 target!

I think I know what you're talking about Randy, probably made for a decent advantage in speed too.
