Well at least "authorized dealers" can do Something.. warranty stuff maybe, and at least they carry regular stock.. Hmmm. Flippers carry stock . . . at least for a little while. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> LOL......shame!!!!

Which means Dan would have to set a quantity limit. And he's not going to do that. Nor do I believe he'll raise his prices because of potential price increases in the secondary market. And that's pretty much all there is to it. That would be the end of buying spares, buying extras for gifts, buying extras to cover people who couldn't camp in front of the computer at the right time, etc. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face! I also think Dan will keep his pricing inline with his norm. As I've said, people set their prices for their own reasons. I think Dan's goals are pretty clear; to provide a product of incredible quality and functionality at an unbeatable value -- resellers bedamned. I have no problem with someone buying a spare...but come on...how many do you need and that's the rub...how do you tell the difference between Scalpers and those doing good?

voluntarily, but begrudgingly. Now some may have to work 2x as hard to get a knife. And keeping new people from experiancing Scrap Yard.......they don't understand why someone would charge more than retail and pass on the oppertunity to get one. I part with most of my cash begrudgingly. I imagine you do as well, which might explain your hesitancy to just send some extra money on over to Dan. Keep new people away from the SY? No way. It makes it even more appealing to become part of the crew here so you can be in the know, get your blade at the right time, and cut the resellers out altogether.

well, the cool thing about Busse family knives is you can sell 'em for at least what you paid, oftentimes More.
Not all the handle shapes agree with my hand.. so it's nice to be able to get the money back out.. try something else.. etc.. until the "perfect" knives are found.
i think realistically.. the only way to stop Flippers.. is for folks to Stop buying from them.. or the knifemaker impose some kind of limit/s.
it's kind of a catch-22.

Besides, those are Authorized dealers for the most part.......no one is as far as I know for Scrap Yard. You may have noticed that Scrap Yard doesn't exactly need any secondary distributors or dealers. They can sell out directly to the public. If they did have distributors, Dan would make even less money selling to them at wholesale prices so they could beat the freelance resellers. And the stock would still dry up immediately and the resellers would sell at whatever price they wanted anyway.

At least We are dealing directly with Dan (well those who get in on release day). That's nice to know. Dan gets money, we get knives. Dealers (middlemen) would definitely take their cut (from both Us and Dan).

[ I imagine you do as well, which might explain your hesitancy to just send some extra money on over to Dan. What the hell are you talking about? I've asked you several times why you don't just send Dan some extra money for your order, since he deserves it(and judging by the secondary market, the blades are worth it).

well.. like bld522 said once (twice, maybe many times!) the Only person who has the power to Limit flipping is Dan.. by imposing Limits of some kind on Buyers. and nobody can totally Stop it.
But that just means Lots of Extra (police) work for Dan!.. at same (or less) money!
and honestly, Dan is prolly Elated that they sell so fast! he doesn't have to inventory lots of stock! ..but he'd rather be Grinding more knives and Drinking!
So the onus to stop flippers falls on Us then! i guess we can try to ostracize flippers, expose them.. they'll try selling on other forums, e-prey, etc. ..but we'd rather be Using our knives and Drinking!

And I replied to you 2 pages back when you first posed this question. It all comes down to that I hate the People that buy 10+ copies of a blade in order to flip it right away for a profit to the same people they call "friend"......"Oh you missed out on it...well I happen to have a spare and you can have it for $90 for than I paid 2 days ago!" I feel Dan should o get in on this and charge a bit more. Buying extras isn't the problem.....I know a few folks do this to help cover the people who are at work or away while the knives are released and then offer them at a minimal markup....5 plus shipping.
Just because people are willing to pay it doesn't make it a good idea. If people want to play these games they should play the stock market.
My tip wouldn't cover what I think he deserves. Not only for creating affordable knives for those quick enough to get them while he has them to offer, but for creating this great forum, and when I see people charging outragous fees for knives that are still in the cardboard sheath, I feel Dan should get a bit more....I know running this place isn't free, maybe he could give a bonus to his employees or start making some of that Gear we all want......if he would charge more these things may be possible....we all know his blades will sell for whatever price these scoundrels place on them.
