Thanks, Todd. I agree. I also think the curvy yellow line works well in the wandering garter snake shot.

No. Both are digital.

i too agree <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

rth, copy.

Mike, Personally I like the first one. Probably because it is a more in focus picture and it is also bigger(appears closer?).

But I do think the second one has more of a visual impact, there's just something that draws your eye and makes you want to take a closer, longer look at it.

And the second one seems to have a more "Hey what are you" look to it's face whereas the first one has that "you are my lunch" look.

All that to say that I guess I DO like the second one better.

It was high ISO, in very dim evening light, in the woods.

On second reflection, rth is right, the first picture does, at least mine, draw your eye to the BODY part of the snake and you just notice the head afterward.

Keep the second one.

You shoot Cannon, correct? They have a little different noise signature than Nikon, from what I remember. My Nikon just gets "blotchy" under higher ISO shots, nothing that looks like grain to me.

Yes, I do.

It's also worth noting that it was shot with a 2004 camera, which does not equal current cameras (Canon or Nikon) in regard to noise.

That said, I think the noise does not take away from that picture.

No, not at all. Just reminds me of grain in slide film was all.
