Ok well im new to the whole going out into the woods. Ive also wanted to do so but seeing how my dad left when i was around 10 i never got to go camping and such. Soo ive always had this desire to go out and hike and do some camping. Seeing how much of you guys are vets and all im hopeing you can give me a few suggestions on a nice outdoors pack. As far as price range the max i can spend right now is about 110 usd. I would like something with a hydration pack but from stuff i read a few ppl have said negitive things about them. So if you could give me a few links or suggest something good i would be a very happy camper lol.

I have done some looking around on the net and came across this pack. Let me know what u think about this also.

I have a Kelty Super Tioga - its like a 1 week sized pack - with a external frame. They're usually about $200 but I found this one for $60 since it was last year's model. I don't know much about packs, but I really like the Kelty.

i use a Karrimor Sabre Delta 25 .. it's built like a tank, can take load of gear, is the most comfortable rig to wear.. i've worn one for ten hours of hiking with no discomfort... and it comes highly reccomended.. used by UK special forces <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'd recommend heading out to an REI and getting fitted there. Also you will want to try some packs and put some load in them. Walk around the store for a while and try several out.

YMMV at REI but i've found that there are a lot of people working there who do actually go outside. Ask the sales person if they hike and how much, if you don't like the answer ask someone else there.

Don't buy on impulse.

I don't think that the pack you linked to will serve your intended purposes well. 1600 cu in. is not enough room if you plan on camping with it. It would be fine for a good day hike but I don't think it will serve you well for any overnighters.

You want something that holds more and would be more comfortable, definitely belt strap and good suspension system. The LL Bean Bigelow has gotten some rave reviews from backpacker magazine, its definitely the right price ($69), its got pleney of room and its way comfy, I've used it before. http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...rch&feat=sr

I second going to REI and seeing what they have to say. They carry some top of the line packs at a good price if you go with their line of gear. I have an REI Lookout pack that I love, got it for $90 and its got plenty of room. I recommend no less than 2200 cu. in. for what it sounds like you want to do. For big packs I like the UK style Bergen or a commercial version of same. For a nice day pack which I have been shopping around for I may get a maxpedition falcon because someone here has one and it looks great.

Unsub you have any links to those Bergens? Bergens is a pretty generic term in the UK for packs.
