I'm still here.
I was just contemplating some terrible news.

Well, I've told you about my ex fiancée, who viciously and maliciously broke my heart, who lied to me, cheated on me, stole from me, slandered me, threatened to blackmail me, and more.
I've told you how she is very sick with cancer, apparently dying. I told you how I let her know I would like to make peace with her, and would like to care for her in her time of need, and she responded to me hatefully and hostilely.
Well, I was just reading that her brain is now extremely addled, from cancer and from chemotherapy. She has lost her memory, and her personality has changed. Apparently, she is literally losing her mind.

Mike, I feel for you. Strange timing, because of this:
My mother in-law apparently last night, started experiencing delusions. Not Hallunications, (Dr. said delusions are what you BELIEVE are real and the hallunations are just seeing something?). Anyway, she has been seeing snakes on the ceiling and cats around on the floor. AND she sees people that have not been there and says they are talking to her.
We are concerned as to why this started last night (friday night) when they say that her chemical/mineral levels are coming back up as they should be.

Randy,
I feel for you, too.
I hope your MIL's delusions are just temporary.

So do we Mike. We HOPE that it might be because of her medication. She is hooked on prescription drugs (because she abuses them) but supposedly her doctor says that at her age (74) it won't really do her any harm. I don't agree, but.....

I don't really think of 74 as being that old. As I often do, I hung out, the other day, with my dear friend J's parents. (They're almost like family; they've practically adopted me for the last 25 years.) They're 77 and 79, and they are both still alert and spry.
I would not take it trivially, if a doctor said that prescription medication addiction didn't matter, at their age. I'd either straighten the doctor out, or seek a doctor with a different perspective and attitude.

I agree, 74 isn't that old. But mind you, all this about abusing drugs we can't prove. It's just based upon years of her children's observations of their mothers habits. And we HAVE tried to get her to change Doctors, but she is pretty set in her ways. I guess We'll just have to wait and see what the testing results are.

Hmmm
I guess the test results are likely to be determinative. However, with doctor-patient confidentiality, will the doctor be able to inform you and your wife of the results?

I think so, if for no other reason than she (mil) is having problems right now and her kids are all she has (her husband died of a bleeding ulcer in 2004).

So, does your wife think the medication abuse is purposeful, or accidental?
