So, I was edging toward buying a Barong, as a wicked fighting blade to brandish when hadji won't surf, any thoughts?

They can be mean wicked. But they many times are on the heavy side. Long as you don't miss you should be fine, but if you DO miss, your recovery time might not be quite fast enough.

That's what my Yard Hook in my other hand is for, hehe...
I really only got pushed in that direction because I've been eyeballing the Blackhawk Blades Tatang for ages. wanted to see what the blade design sprang from, liked the design.

NC has been stormy the last couple of days. I shot a wedding yesterday afternoon after the storm passed and it was miserable hot and humid. I was soaked all evening
