Never had to use CPR in all the years I've been certified. About 24-25 years. Glad it's never come to it, still don't know if I could or not.
You don't think about it, you just do it.
It was a motorcycle accident and I knew he was dead but I had to try.

I've done AR twice and luckily both people survived.

My ex was briefly a first responder (now a doctor).

I used to volunteer, as a victim, for the training of our local wilderness first responders.

Both EMT and dispatcher are jobs where you interact with people experiencing so much pain, sorrow, and trauma. It must be hard.

Thank you for your efforts.

I was still a volunteer for St. John's ambulance at the time, when our town did a mock disaster scenario.
My wife's family where in a drama troop so they did full on make-up as victims for the exercise.
My one brother in law was a DOA, there was a mix-up and instead of placing him in the pretend morgue with everyone else, they accidentally put him in the real morgue.
He doesn't know how long he was under the sheet before he stuck his head out and looked around.
It freaked the heck out of him

About a year and a half ago a family friend had a heart attack, the dispatcher talked his 72 year old wife on how to do cpr until the ambulance arrived.
This saved his life, no brain damage at all or other effects

Words can be powerful aids, when used with compassion and knowledge.

That's why I do well here, I'm usually pretty calm under fire.
