probably just wait... need to grab a few things for it like mags and a few different types of ammo to test out. feeding this one ain't gonna be cheap so the more rounds I can compare at the same time the quicker I can start shooting for fun.

hard to believe but as much as I love my m1a I still have a little bit of buyer remorse. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

I have a dumb question. I thought the M1 GARAND was a long rifle. I also thought the M14 was more or less a chopped off shorter verison. YOUR rifle and ECF's both seem to be the shorter version. Why are they being called the M1a. Can you help end my confusion?

M1A seems to be what Springfield Armory is calling their civilian versions of the M14. I don't think (could be wrong) that size or full auto capability matters. seems other makers just stamp them m14.

Ok, guess that makes SOME sense. Kinda sorta capitalizing on a name, perhaps!

I gather you mean you wish you had held out for an FN?

Not really... I had both of them laid out on the table for me. If I had never seen this one way in the back I may have stuck with the FNAR. Reason is, is that I know how I operate. I could've gotten the FNAR and never really wanted the M1A but since buying the M1A I still want a FN bolt rifle. And since I have the green M1A now I just want a green FN rifle. I connect some weird dots sometimes.
That said there was no wrong choice and I picked the most bad a$$ rifle instead of the right rifle. if that makes since...
but man I'm happy with the

Ok, I can understand that. I have heard from numerous sources that the M1a is a FANTASTIC rifle and that there is no end to the "accessories" that can be had for it.

Thought shift, but man are the North Koreans some crazy folks (the leadership of course, not the normal citizens)

They are (well at least were) very unstable when I was stationed in Japan and worked in a Recon center. They were our biggest concern. The Russians; just waived for the camera whenever they flew close to one of our planes (and our guys smiled and waived back)!

it's no AR but there is a decent amount of stuff you can do. I would prefer a pistol grip and maybe the option for a for-end grip but I'll get over it.
