Yes, I know it's not a Busse forum, but i know more of you here than over there, so here goes....
Have any of you ordered from the busse site, as opposed to the company store?
The reason I ask is, I like the looks of the new badger attack. But, having never ordered direct from the site, I have no idea what to expect.
My questions are:
-what is the realistic wait time?
-do you get notified when it ships, or does a box just randomly show up full of goodies one day?

I got my AK and skeleton key from the company store, so both pretty much came days after I ordered.

Thanks for your help, gents!

I ordered my BATAC from BusseCombat.com back on Jan 29, 2007.. (first day they came out)
and many folks on BF think they *might* ship next month!! May 2007.
LOL!

(my first Busse) so sorry can't be of more help.

Also i hear they don't ding your CC until they're about ready to ship?

Hey Roo,

I have only ordered from the site. All I do is call the number, Amy-O picks up or one of the other girls, place the order and then the hard part...... Wait. They usually start to ship after the knife is pulled.

The current knife went up I believe somewhere around December which means that there is probably a list of people ahead of you so when the ship you may recieve it two or three weeks after the first person gets theirs. But the good news is that you WILL get one and not have to worry about them selling out. They only go to the company store after the knife is off of the site and after everyone receives their which makes it longer of a wait.

Call the store and give your CC as this may come down as it has been up for quite a while. Just keep hanging out at the bladeforum on the Busse site to see if anyone has received theirs when the time comes and then check to see if the CC got dinged. You can always call AMY-O at the shop to see if it shipped too.

Hey Rooikat,

I've ordered from the site online and have called and ordered from Amy O and even from the head janitor himself. When I ordered blades the day they came out, it took months before shipment - but I've ordered when shippments had already started and received the item within a week to a few weeks. They do give you a heads up by charging your card usually about 10 days before shipping. The wait is always worth it.

They are great to deal with! As others have said, be prepared to wait. At least they don't ding your credit card until 10 days before it ships to you.

The BATACs are in production now, however the first batches are their priority customers (Military, LEO, Etc...).

The price is right on that blade too! Still unsure if I might order an extra one, just because!

Like Scrap Yard, they are awesome to deal with!

So, the only notice is the credit card charge?
The reason I ask is, if the post guy drops it on my porch, and someone steals it, I'll never know it was even sent.
or, if it gets stolen in transit by the mailguy (I have had that happen several times) I will never know.
This is one of the reasons I have not ordered one, yet, and have done my shopping off the store.
I wouldn't want to be a pain and call them every couple of weeks to check on the order....

Every delivery I've received,- Someone has had to sign for with delivery confirmation (which means trips to the post office for me). And each time items are sent insured. When the time comes and shipments start, you can call and speak with someone to see what the status is. Everyone up in Wauseon have been great to deal with on the phone.

I jusy ordered a BATAC last night, urban gray, black handles. I liked the size, thickness, and price seemed decent too (for what it is, clearly not inexpensive). I sort of justified it to my wife, and she sort of went for it too! I have a couple other fixed blades, supposedly good, good steels, but even light use on a hike will leave them dull or with tiny chips. I realized there was stuff I was not using them for that a knife should be able to handle. When you look at the warranty and the quality, the SCYKW, SRKW, and Busse Knives all end up making a lot of sense. I ordered via the web, almost wish I had called.

Grats jmosh!

Good knives are lifetime tools. You will pass them on to your next of kin...unless we can figure out how to take them with us!
