Morning.

I slept in a hammock next to Triberg Falls. The sound is so soothing I almost didn't want to fall asleep so I could just listen.

I really did. I bicycled out there and carried everything with me for a two night stay. It's nice to get out and be alone sometimes. My legs are sore now though. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I can't hike very far to camp anymore, I pretty much have to pick out places I can drive right up to. Luckily, there are several campgrounds in the National Forest I can get to easily, just drive right up and park.

Good for you. It would suck to be completely cut off from camping.

BTW. I love my Hennesy Hammock

As long as I have my tent and my ground pad, I'm pretty easy to keep happy camping. I've never tried a hammock though. Sounds relaxing.

i use to do a lot of tarp camping with my bros. it was the best time we ever had. we would just pack our bags and hike out into the hills and pick a spot by the creek and set up camp. good times.

Check out Hennessy Hammocks. They have rainflys and bug nets. It's like a floating tent. http://hennessyhammock.com/

Those hammocks look interesting JJ. I wouldn't mind having one to give it a whirl.

They are really light too. I think mine ways two and a half pounds and packs up smaller than a loaf of bread.

Weight isn't a big factor to me, since I camp from my truck, but I bet that's nice for hiking in.

I pack it in my saddle bag on my bicycle. Definitely makes a difference compared to a tent. At one point I was just using a bivy sack instead of a tent to lighten the load, but it wasn't very comfortable.
