Found a couple to not so heavy duty locking metal cases(not quite safes) at Bass pro online that look like they will work for me, gonna have to go check them out, they have one at 120 and one at 220, good reviews for them as well

Nope, no belt sander but I figure I can just cut the top guard off (IF I can find anything sharp) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> and then use sandpaper.

Jared, sent you a PM. Also, when I took apart my WW II Waki sheath, I found out that the groove for the blade is only on one side! the other side is flat except for the throat of the scabbard.

ah, that or just glue some heavy grit sand paper to a paint stick and sand it the whole way down, Res-c sands fairly easily and then you can control the shape a little easier

I tried to make a wooden scabbard for a long blade once and found out I really sucked at it! But now I know better how they are made. I had tried routing out both sides.

paint stick/paper would work. I'm in no hurry though, may be a small project for this winter.
