I'd be happy, just have to prepare for the weather. Generator, food stores, firewood, etc. Sounds just fine to me.

Those are things I figure everyone should have anyway. I have always prepared for taking care of myself. Got used to being cut of from town during floods and ice storms. It just carried over when I moved to the high country. It just deep snow and cold that cause problems occasionally.

Only thing the snow would cause me problems would be getting back and forth to work. I have a 4wd truck, so I would be ok in all but the deepest that we ever get here. I'm fine until it gets more than 18 inches or so, but that's really rare here.

Same here. But we get the occasional 3 footers that shut everything down. But we still have to get in to work. So I have a rather large jeep that gets the trick done most of the time.

If the old adage the amount and intensity of rain you get in August is similar to the kind of snow we get in the winter holds true. We are due for a rough winter.

If we got 3 feet here, I'd be sleeping in the back room of the dept on a cot LOL. It would shut us completely down,probably for at least a week.

The way they work here, is we have just enough 4wd vehicles to double up deputies and work just the emergency calls. They also take essential personnel (dispatchers) back and forth if they need it. But if it's THAT bad, we have cots and showers in the back. Never been bad enough for that since I came here, but there's always a first time

Its still rare to get more than 3 foot in single day but it happens. 18 inches isn't so uncommon. They have a group of civilians that have nice 4x4's and they will take medical personnel etc to work in the event of a bad storm. My agency keeps an informal list of who has the modified 4x4's and will ask those to pick up people and take them in.

We get it done. Then we find places for everyone to stay even if it is a locker room or a briefing room.
