Yote, how old is your Norinco? What is the drawback?

I wish the blade could talk of all the things it did, experienced, etc. Same thing about old guns too.

My favorite shotgun is an LC Smith that my granddad gave my dad for his high school graduation present. It came from a LC Smith salesman that special ordered it from the factory with 22 inch barrels and a nickel plated receiver. I killed my first squirrel with that gun, as well as my first quail and rabbit. Dad gave it to me, and it'll be passed on to my son eventually. If one could tell tales, I'd love to listen to it someday....

Todd, that is so cool. You mentioned that your grandad was a furniture maker. Are you in the area of NC that does a lot of furniture making? I have heard NC was a hub for furniture in the 18th and 19th century.

It used to be the center of the furniture making universe. NAFTA took care of that. Now it's vacant buildings and 13% unemployment, and what jobs are there are minimum wage stuff.

My granddad worked for Drexel Heritage for 50 years, started when he was 15 years old. He took pride in what he did, and he made some beautiful furniture. My dad's house is filled with handmade one-off items Granddad made for shows and whatnot.

Bought it 2 years ago, I wanted to see what all the hype was about.
I guess I am just not a fan of the old military type rifles.
I am just a hunter at heart, I guess.
I packed an old Lee enfield all over the mountainside as a kid, now I am spoiled with lighter rifles.
I've only shot the Norinco twice, lent it to my oldest nephew about a year ago, he shoots it and his Russian SKS a couple times a month

My favorite shotgun was an LC Smith, traded it in a fit of madness.
I regret that trade every time I think of it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" />

Todd, thanks for sharing that. I have heard of Drexel before, I would love to see some of those pieces. In the near future I am going to take pics of some things my Papa made out of wood and post them up. He was a wood carver and people from all over wanted his carvings. He and I carved some shoes for a state fair when I was in elementary school---------I took 2nd place and he took 1st place in folk art division.
