He turns 16 August 30. He has absolutely no patience for anything, a product of the "Now Generation." Took him hunting a couple times, he can't sit still long enough to see anything. If he doesn't see a squirrel, or catch a fish, in the first 15 minutes, he's ready to go home.

My place borders public game land. I always see deer and turkey, and occasionally bear and wild boar, in my front yard. I won't shoot them there, wouldn't be sporting. But, I do have a stand less than 200 yards from the house for deer season. I figure if I can get up, get dressed and go to my stand, then it's all good. But if I stick my rifle out my bedroom window, that just doesn't sit right. It is about the ethics that we were brought up with Like I tell people it is hunting not killing. If I wanted to kill I would just buy a bunch of chickens and start loping off heads. I hope to retire up in the interior and walk out my front door to go hunting. I do envy you a bit there Battery is getting low so if I disappear you will know why My brother takes apples to his stand and puts them out for the week before deer season starts. First morning of deer season, he's always got one on the ground before 7:30 am. They come to eat and he just shoots from about 25 yards. There is no sport in that.

I get out and walk the woods for a month before the season comes in, looking for scrapes and rubs. I go sit in my stand and watch the trails, plus I'm squirrel hunting in the same area also. I work hard and sometimes I kill a nice buck. Sometimes I don't. That's hunting. But I won't sit over a bait pile and shoot a deer, that isn't hunting at all, at least not to me.

A few years ago I took part in a control hunt for deer in an area of apple orchards. All the deer taken were eaten, but even though I knew there was a reason for it. I didn't like it and never did it again

It's legal here, I just don't consider it sporting. We live between two old apple orchards, I even have an apple tree in my yard, so they get plenty of apples to eat. But I'm not shooting them over a baitpile. I just won't.

We all have to hunt to our conscious. Here in BC, the chances are very remote that you would get caught, if you poached or hunted illegally.

Oh yeah, there's all kinds of ways to get away with it. Even if it were illegal, he's only hunting 250 yards away from his house, and on his own land too. Lots of people do it here, and I try not to judge, but it just isn't for me.

I never could stand hunt, I usually still hunt, probably why I am more successful hunting moose than deer.

Hunting techniques developed in different regions for a reason, just because my morals are different doesn't mean they are wrong.
