Usually use a Remington 700 ADL 30.06. I've carried a 7mm, 44 mag rifle, 44 mag pistol, 30/30, and it goes on, but the 30.06 does the job for me pretty well.

Randy, your model 600 is it the original design or the mohawk?

1973, I was 7 years old, and already hooked on hunting and fishing.

My gun experience started kinda like one of you. When I was 9 Grandpa took the shot out of a few shells, filled it with old material and let me shoot it (20 ga single shot, external hammer that took my both hands, ok thumbs, to [censored]) so I could get used to the weight and noise. We then progressed to lo-brass shells and finally when I was 10 he let me go out by myself, just around his house out in the woods. For the first few months never got more than probably 600 feet away. After the first year, I had the run of the entire area, as far as I wanted to walk. Grandma even made me a shell holder belt out of old denium. it would hold 16 20 ga shells. Ah, the good times.

I've got about 1/2 dozen I cycle through.
Deer is usually a remington 600 mohawk in 308 or winchester model 88 in 308.
I also use a marlin 44 or 30/30 when knocking about in the wet bush.
Moose is usually a model 70 in 338 winmag or model 94 timber in 450 marlin. Grizzly are still up and about when I hunt moose

Yote, I THINK it is the mohawk, but it does not have any iron on it at all nor does it have the rib. Might Just be an original 600. VERY light weight and tapered barrel and it LOVEs 125 grain bullets. Guy I got it from reloaded and I have hit 2lit soda bottles with it out to 350 yards.

Dad has a Winchester Model 100 in .284 that I absolutely lust over. I love that gun, it has to be the best shooting rifle I ever shot. It's the semi-auto version of the Model 88.

My only deer kill was with a winchester 30/30 lever gun my dad bought me. Before that (for at least 3 years) I used the old 16ga model 31 remmy pump.

guy I bought mine off of removed the sites (no rib either) and mounted a scope on it.
The only thing I've done to it was to have the bolt fixed in the recall
