tony22r- if you are ever around a shop with a plasma cutter, make a little cut/slit into the prybar, flat side about 4" up from the edge (about the size of the hole in the base of a monkey wrench.. then you can use it to shut off gas mains as well (though most CA gas mains can just be 'kicked' off (kick the earthquake sensor).

I see that you listed the valois system. I saw a website of a guy who's put together his own system that, along with the dogfather, looks pretty solid. It's what got me searching for a replacement blade for the now defunct Beckers, that led me here.

I'm about halfway through my own kit now

i live out in the boonies, yet w/ cities & suburbs nearby.
I'd take..

-Dog Father
-Glock something (9mm for ammo availability, easier to scavenge/loot from others)
-3 ft steel crowbar/wrecking bar
-good bolt-action carbine (prolly in .308 for ammo) for long shots
-good off-road vehicle (4-banger for fuel efficiency)

Got the first 3.. still working on acquiring/building the last two.
Here in SoCal we can/have had earthquakes, riots, brush fires, flooding, mudslides, wow lots of different situations actually.
When stuff happens, there's usually LOTS of debris. I use my 3ft wrecking/crowbar quite a LOT! around the homestead, helping out neighbors clear up after wind damage, poking around abandoned places, opening cars at the junkyard, gardening & removing weeds! LOL (yes we have weeds here that'd put some trees to shame)

i LOVE my big crowbar dammit! (err.. it's only 3 ft, not 4)

Arkie-
I like the Valois knife system a lot. I have a special single edged bowie style knife. Having all the cool survival gear in the pouch, instead of a hollow handle, is a good idea. I like the screwdirver and saw attachments; makes the knife more of an all-purpose you got it on you when you need it sort of thing.

I would want a crash axe to work with and some kind of fighter, maybe an SS6, to "go to work" with.

Here is a pretty cool video of some "Urban" uses, impress your friends if you locked your keys in the car. http://www.victorinox.ch/index.cfm?site=...701091536506968

As far as other uses, could you cut the door from around a deabolt? I saw a pic on here somewhere where someone chopped up a metal door with a DF.

An urban knife needs to be quick and deadly.
