I much prefer slides to digital, but this is now a digital world (photographically speaking)

My wife still uses 35mm film for some specialized stuff. Mostly because thats what all the truly good equipment is on right now. I think she will stop altogether with a digital camera that the good stuff works on.

I just love to throw the slides into a projector and look at them on the big screen. It's almost magical to me.

But then again, I cut my teeth in a darkroom with Kodak Tri-X B&W film. I loved working in the darkroom. I miss that a lot.

My new TV has a USB port. I can set up slide shows on the screen. Works out really well. I was impressed with it.

Had a dark room in my old house. Converted a spared bedroom and bathroom just for my wife.

The digital cameras save me tons in developing costs. Last vacation she took over 3000 pics. The most she has taken was 5,000. She almost broke me when she first got into wildlife photography. SH ewas buying rolls of film and we bought shot and paid to have 179 rolls of 36 exposure processed.

Now an external harddrive backs everything up and she can delete crop and edit from the den. If she wants them "proffesionally" developed she picks and chooses and it costs way less.

MB, 179 rolls! On a REAL good day at Mingo, Patty may take 200-300 pictures. She puts them on the computer and just has the ones she likes best developed. yeah, we used to go broke just developing 2-3 rolls at a time.

179 rolls in a week. We Spent the entire week snowmobiling in Yellowstone back when it was still fun to do. Lots of critters and great scenery. I thought she was going to bankrupt us.

I just did the math thats was more than 6,000. So maybe she has cut back a bit;)

Yellowstone DID used to be nice. Now days from what I have heard it's more like a surburb!
