My first car was a 1959 VW Karmen Ghia. It had an 1192cc 36 HP air-cooled engine and a 6 volt electrical system. I parked it on hills and push started it when the battery couldn't crank it. Amazingly, it could eventually get up to over 80 mph on the motorway in England. Cost me $200 in 1969. The Brit gals loved it.

That is so cool. A friend of mine from Scottland had the same car and all he talked about was the babe attration that car had. He also shared how he could easily get it stuck down on the beach...it was better than saying he ran out of gas

I got three "birds" in it once and ran into a Rover TC 2000 on a roundabout. My vision was obscured by legs, I think. Chunks of body rust fell from my car, but the Rover was unscathed. So we continued on to the party at pub in Ipswich.

Now thats my kind of car, I mean party. I have to say I have never had my vision blocked in that way

Sounds like quite a car Dan. Those 327's were sweet motors.

Compared to todays engines they were easy to work on and you could get some real numbers with them

First vehicle, 61 International Pickup, My dad bought it for me for 16th birthday, paid $175, I used it to install water conditioning equipment for my dad's business. He made me buy all my own tools and paid me by the job. What a gift, I learned the value of working for yourself, and being responsible for your own work.

The station wagon wasn't exactly popular with girls so I eventually sold it and picked up a bright yellow 1976 Chevy Camaro. I spent the next few years fixing it up.

Hi Guys,

My first car was a 70 Chevy Chevelle station wagon with a 350 engine. It was the family car and had gone across country a few times and would always tow our fishing boat up to northern Ontario. It was a huge car with bench seats, four headlights and an AM radio. Lots of good times traveling in it.

As you discribed the car I got that image of Chevy Chase and his station wagon he took on vacation in Summer Vacation

My fav car of all time was teh 68 Chevelle. Jerry and I fixed one up that had a 327 and we got more than 450 hourses at the rear end ...it was a screammer

Always wanted a Family Truckster. There's this Buick Roadmaster wagon I see lumbering all over the road around here. It has no mufflers, fake wood and sounds like a pulp wood truck. Scares heck out of me. I'd like to have that car for my trips to Atlanta.....get some respect!

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Evening gents,
My first car was '80 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham! That's a mouthful! I bought it from my folks in about 97 so it was old when I got it. It was blue and white with some rust. T-roofs and a 305 ci motor. It was my baby! Camped and partied and dated LOTS in that thing. Good times.

Evening guys, a little late but I got here. My first was a truck, a 1976 Chevy heavy half-ton. The truck was basically a regular half-ton with upgraded shocks, springs, and a few other things. Originally the color was Crimson Red but by the time I bought it for 650 in 1990 it was orange-------------hence the name Orange Blossom Special. I had more fun in that truck. The truck basically saved my life while in a wreck. I was on the way to school and a guy tpboned me doing over 50 miles a hour----------talk about being fired up as soon as I came to. Funny thing about that truck was that I had chipped out over a couple hundred pounds of sement in the bed as it had been owned by a masonry guy.

My next car was a 64' Cadillac Sedan deVille that had been broad-sided. It would reach 110 and glide over the road - a sweet ride!

and how many time did you get over 110? ....LOL

MANY!!! And I never got caught either!

My first was a 77 corola & I beat the crap out of it in the mountains.I took it up every loging road & spur around Blewit Pass.I loved that car because it gave me the freedom to get into the mountains & explore.
