The outside of the body was solid but it had what we called at the time "Michigan Air Conditioning" The floorboards had holes in it so that when driving down the road after a snow you would get slush all over your legs and the heater was marginal at best. Your describing my current truck! A 79 Chev 2wd. The outside isn't to bad but it has AC now. The kids complain about getting splashed here and there. It's got a 350 Rocket in it that still has TONS of power. My first new truck was a 77 Chevy with a 350, That was one of the best motors GM ever built. My 89 350 I put over 350,000 miles on it.

The Odometer only goes to 99999 so I have NO idea what so ever how many miles are on it. It's stong still though. I can turn and burn the 14" wide mag rubber I have. They are BALD now.

First vehicle, 61 International Pickup, My dad bought it for me for 16th birthday, paid $175, I used it to install water conditioning equipment for my dad's business. He made me buy all my own tools and paid me by the job. What a gift, I learned the value of working for yourself, and being responsible for your own work. I think the Internationals used heavy steal like 14 or 16 gage for the body...they were bruts. I had a Pontiac Ventura after college...it had personality...thats what you call it when you have no money and your car is junk. Anyway, I would consistently get splashed in the face when rained due to no floor boards. The rear springs broke so the car looked like it went down the road with a heavy list...almost sideways. But it ran and I owned it
