Make it out of something that will hold a good edge and I'll get it
You realize it's made out of INFI, right?

Very well aware it's infi... However when I clean, skin and cut up a deer ... Don't wanna have to stop to steel the edge to keep it going... ... I do like the looks of it, but once again .. Make it out of something that will hold an edge and I'll get it.

Yes bob I have tested the S5 versions..vs each other... In fact 3 different LE vs the CG as of date...Stock and resharpened angles....to keep it simple, the 101 shined, while the LE versions were sold.

Bob, I'm pleased to hear that you have a good opinion of O1. I've bought a couple of O1 blades, more because the handles appealed to me than because of the steel -- I've heard that a lot of small-scale makers like it because it's supposed to be relatively easy to heat treat, but not much on how well they hold up. Perhaps I'll add a picture of the last one I bought when I get home (I'm blocked from PhotoBucket at work); it's a drop point, perhaps Nessmuk-inspired blade with Snakewood handles.

Not my style, but good luck to those who are going for it.

Jim.. The small scale makers are some of the most famous with 01... The easy heat treat part is because a non magnectic tempature is easy to obtain in "home made" furnances...and falls right in 01 temps for great HT's... Also it's a very forgiving forging steel.. ......

Jim- Bruce-Paul and others..........I recently received and " 01" knife and was amazed at how well it performed. Also- same with an A2 blade that I am having a ball with. Ron ( sprtsnut) just left from picking up his WEENIE ( more later) and he took some pictures of some of my blades.I would welcome results - suggestions- pictures or any ideas or thoughts on all these steels . Like I stated- the Bushwhacker is not only INFI- it was a well thought out design and I ceratily would encourage anybody to jump on it at that price . I just like the design so well I am having it built in some different steels .I am no expert- but there is much more to a heat treat than many would ever think.1095 treated correctly is also an excellent steel . My humble apolgies to the OP for the hijack

The Talon hole is ok , after all it's the Busse trademark, but why the choil ? Take the blade right up to meet the talon hole and it would be a great little blade !!!

Great points.

Has Dan ever considered a functional, "processing" type blade. I'd love to see an SR101 blade slightly larger (ever so slightly) than a Warden, with a good Res-C handle. I don't think I'd want a mudder, as the ergo isn't optimal for quick work on an animal...but something smaller like a Basic or along those lines.

Ishi, looks like the Mud Puppy was the closest version to what you're talking about. However, it's overall length was almost 1.5" longer than the standard Game Warden..granted the blade is .5" of that.

For those that have them, are they "quick" in the hand? How's the blade design for use on game / processing tasks?
