Nice prize, do I see a Garand rear sight on that M1A? Yup. Lockbar goodness. Keeps the sight from being accidentally bumped.

I picked up a SA socom 16 awhile back. Don't know about it's range though. I like it so much I want a M1A now. My problem is saving for it. I keep spending it on blades.

I was thinking about a SOCOM for a bush rifle, but I couldn't validate it with any "real" use, lol. If I hunted in Dense brush, maybe.

I have some cop buddies that use them for swat. Great for CQ and w/ a scope I have heard it's spot on at 300+. I would not enter a match with it like Pitbull but that range sure looks like fun.

I had a SOCOM but let it go since I had my full size. Now I am trying to do a trade with a buddy of mine to get his since he has gone all 5.56mm weapons and I am no longer a 5.56mm guy---7.62 baby.
The SOCOM I had only shot out to about 200 yds but it was pretty accurate but not a barn burner due to the wide front sight and generous rear sight.

Anyway, PBL this question is for you....how many people shoot the competition?

Yup. Typically, about 40+ shooters.
This time I think turn out was affected by:

1. Bad weather proceeding the match and a forecast for rain/thunder the day of the shoot (though it didn't rain a drop)

2. Memorial Day holiday festivities interfering with shooter's plans to attend.

It's a really fun time with a great bunch of shooters.

Next match is Sept. 11th. Let me know if you want details/directions/etc.
