I didn't ask for a proxy either and although I suspect the blade length is around 11", we still don't know the thickness of the blade. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />
If anyone who saw or purchased a B11 can tell us the thickness of the blade, even if it's only a guesstimate, I'd appreciate it if they'd post that info here. Thanks. Exposed metal: 11" Cutting Edge: 9.75" ish (my) Thickness @ ricasso: 0.253" It is a light/fast blade. I just love the basic handle. I couldn't resist. I resisted the black/black version, but they got me with the black handle / tanker gray blade. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Thanks SnotPig!
My BWM is right at 10.6" exposed and 9.4" cutting edge.....so really it's not that much longer. However, at .253" thick it is definitely thicker.
Appreciate the data! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

What is the Yard's thoughts on B-11 + / - vs the BWM.
I love my BWM...but I think it's because of how thin it is. Some may not agree, because that does take some of the "chopping" ability away from it....however, for my uses (camping / hiking) I don't know if I care for an NMFBM type knife by any means, and to me the BWM is a great middle ground for multiple tasks. Now, if it had Res-C, I think it may be my grail...hard to say.
Does the B-11's thickness place it in a "chopper only" role...or will it fly like the BWM? The BWM balances at the choil...which makes it handy (for me).
I reckon the debate for me is...would a B-11 replace the BWM? Most family / friends that see my BWM say "nice Machete"....they're clueless; however, the thin profile of the knife does attract me from that perspective....makes super short work of cellulose & I never get fatigued with it (sans chopping through an 8" limb on my dead tree!).
Thanks for any feedback...debacles of life <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for any feedback...debacles of life <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> I have MANY choppers including DFCG and DFLES and can tell you that the BW is a better chopper and faster in hand than all of them IMO <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. I am picking up several Basics only because the price is a steal at less than the BWM- BUT- I don't think it will feel nearly as good " in hand" . The BW is simply the best feeling Busse chopper I own <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. The Basic scales are nice- but a bit small I am thinking for my big paws <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />.It is a great value- but I don't think it is anywhere near the BW. I like the dynamics of the Bush so well that I am having it made of some others metals just for comparison. Both are great knives- Huge edge to the BW IMO <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />-Thanks

Thx Ordawg...I recall you mentioning the BW copies being made in other steels, and I look forward to the feedback you post on reviewing them.
Your views of the BWM are very much in line with mine. I think I just have a hard time "passing" on the B-11...it's the addiction, ya know? However, I cannot own them just to own them...as I haven't grown into much of a collector (yet!).
If I was going to collect something, a Satin AK / Ruck would be my first.
Thanks again. Ishi

You should pick up a Basic just to compare <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. You should be able to sell it down the road so is no big deal at all. I personally think the BWM is the nicest " in hand" chopper that Busse has ever come out with <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. The Basic is VERY NICE and at a low price. It is kinda ugly or spartan ( plain) from that point of view. But- for guys looking for a cheap ( reasonable price) INFI chopper- there it is <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />!! Win-Win for all <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />. Good Thoughts. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Great points guys...appreciate the feedback.
Bruce, I like your mindset regarding "hard use collector". Intriguing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Ordawg...I agree that I'd need to try it before I'd know, especially considering everyone's "tastes / needs" differs. However, it has to be SAGE to ensure the comparison is valid <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the info guys. The thickness is perfect. I own three rtak knives and lots of short machetes. This puts the B 11 in a class I am willing to buy and spend that kind of money on.

...The BWM balances at the choil...which makes it handy (for me).
My B11 balance point is somewhere in the vicinity of the middle of the "BUSSE" blade mark. it looks to be about 1.25" in front of the center of the choil.

Interesting feedback Snot. That's maybe 1/4-1/2" forward of my BWM balance.
Thanks man! Keep the info pouring in for us unfortunate ones <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I'd have prefered it if the blade was more akin to the one by ESEE knives, no choil, more blade:
