So I was bored and decided to Measure my bussekin, focusing on the B11 and comparing it to the Dogfather.
Here are my results:
Overall length is 16 inches.
Blade length is 11 1/4 inches.
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
Over all length is about 16 1/4 inches making the handle 5 inches.
[Linked Image from img202.imageshack.us]
Cutting edge length is about 9 7/8 inches
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
Dogfather is much thicker than the Basic 11
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
At first blade thickness is 1/4 inch
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
Then drops down to just over 3/16 of an inch or 7/32 of an inch and the rest of the length stays at 7/32 in
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
Dogfather is just over 1/4 ich or 9/32 of an inch
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
Deregulator is 5/16 of an inch
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
Dan please make all future knives in this handle, shrink it for smaller knives....thumbs up <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
[Linked Image from img535.imageshack.us]
Basic 11 handles have plenty of room for me but I have bitch hands

Some BAD knives

Basic 11
*Feels better in hand than the Dogfather
*Feels like a machete because its light, my friend thought it was a machete
*Came hair wittling sharp(yes I tested it)
*Goes through paper like nothing because of its full flat grind
*I consider it 7/32 of an inch thick not 1/4 inch
*I need a sheath
*Regulator handles rock(I like that they arent at an angle to the blade. I would like a chopper with straight handle res-c)

Deregulator is 15.6 ounces
[img]http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/5521/regweight.jpg[/img]
Basic 11 is 16.6 ounces
[img]http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8855/b11weight.jpg[/img]
Dogfather is 20.6 ounces
[img]http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/3878/dogweight.jpg[/img]
wierd how they all are .6 ounces, thats bad luck .6.6.6 (this just shows that bussekin knives will survive the apocalypse <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />)

It also appears that the Dog Father is slightly wider than the B11 and substantially wider than a Regulator. To my eye, the Dog Father looks like a chopper, the B11 looks like a machete, and the Regulator looks like a fighter. YMMV.

Perfect Bruce <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />- and you can add to that the BWM is an ultimate chopper and the very most comfortable of the bunch even though not pictured. Also- the original Reg is more of the pure fighter as to the grind( flat-not saber). Just my opinion- all great knives. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

That Basic 11 looks to be a better "Bushwacker" than the Bushwacker. Of course, I'd have to use one to know for sure. I'll have to pass on buying one at this time. Besides, I have two BWMs already and a DFLE. They are fine bush blades. But if I did not already have such an arsenal of choppers, that Basic 11 looks like a good choice for an all-around camp machete/chopper.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Great comparison info! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> I've got all three but haven't had time for comparisons. Also, I really like the BWM, but I think the RES-C on the B11 is gunna give it a little advantage when in use. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

For me, the spoiler in the group is the Dog Father. It's clearly capable of keeping up with just about any Bussekin chopper ever made. And it cost $139.95 from the factory. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> In terms of Bussekin choppers, the DF will be my go-to chopper forever. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
+1 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Great comparision pics. Thanks for posting.

+2! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hard to argue with that logic, Bruce. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Although I still prefer my DFLE over the CG... and I agree on the B11, I figured I'd better get in on that while I had the chance. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

That is exactly how I thought Jeff. I really like them all- but there is just " something" about the BW that feels right to me. In the end-I just get all of them- but I do have my favorites for sure. For the $$$ the B 11 is an awesome buy for sure.Especially for someone that enjoys the ResC scales-Nice reviews and comments. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I hear you, Jeff. Of course, the DFLEs are gone forever (unless you want to pay big bucks for one on the secondary market if you can even find one). DFCGs, on the other hand, can still be had at trade shows for factory pricing. And in terms of Busse choppers, they are STILL the bargain of the century.

Very good point... and even though I don't need another... I'm still always tempted by the DF's anytime I see them on the table for sale... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

Yep, having a chance to buy a new Busse with Res-C was something I never expected to have. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

I too like the BWM handles, although, eventually I will smooth the handle down. I'm just not crazy about those grooves... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
