what's the deal with sharpening a recurve?
anyone out there do it with the mousepad? with a steel? straight stone work? The spyderco sharpmaker will pretty much handle any shape thats what I mostly use.

Leatherface and Tony22r,
I got a XD in .45 ACP love it, and it is, as my dad calls it, "a REAL Man's Gun" I have the 5 inch tactical model, and I would sugest the 5 inch barrle. I don't have any true need to pack it EDC (but I am big enough framed that I could pack it if I needed too) and the original 1911s were 5 inch like John M. Browning designed them. I was originaly going to go with the 4 inch servive model in .40 S&W but knew my play money was going to be limited in the near future(school, baby girl, etc.) So I got about as much gun as I could for a great price. I love the ergonomics, my brother in-law shot better with it in the first 50 rounds than he dose with his Bretta 92 that he has had for many years. It is one heck of a good handgun I have had no misfires at all and that has been with cheap ammo. Bottom line.... get one, it is a very nice!!

As far as the original points of this thread, I will get one with the hook/bottle-opener, just to have something a little different in my collection, but in all reality I would pull out my leatherman to open a frosty brew with out even thinking about. And this way if my luck is bad, and I get in to one of thoes one in a trillion chances knife fights I have the upper hand with my Scrapyard MOJO.

Has any one on this forum actually opened a beer with a Mojo? I seek photgraphic proof of this knife's utility.

I actually like it. It gives it personality and if I did indeed have one I would open beer with it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Vic,
I meant to tell you earlier that that recurve is awasome on that Western! You are indeed the sharpened recurve master on this forum! Oh, and great pics by the way.

Actually I heard the hook does not really work for bottlecaps. In many cases a knife is a better choice than a handgun especially in very close quarters. The police are taught that if you let a knife weilder withing 20 feet you are as good as dead. Also knife attacks are 3 times as likely to kill as a gunshot according to the FBI 10% for guns 30% for knives.
I would not get a Glock or XD not because they aren't exellent guns but because I like blued steel and wood. A CZ75 or SIG210 if I had the bucks(and did not live in canada)

I would love a mojo. Not a giant fan of the catch though. I think a "fighting" knife looks a lot more like this than like a mojo ![[Linked Image from img.photobucket.com]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v664/blondiestomp/AH_STEVENS_F-S.jpg)

Wrong. That is a sentry assassination tool, not a fighting knife.
