Hey guys, I'm new here. I'm an avid hiker/camper and I live in NH.
I've always had SOG knives because they sell them in stores here and I never really buy stuff online.

I came across this website after seeing the scrapper 6 on knifetests.com

The thing is, for a true survival knife I really only need a 4.5-6" blade.

The dumpster mutt looked perfect for me. Id pay twice it for one.. problem is.. I can't find any online?

Is this a low #'s run company?

Hi Zogg...welcome to the YARD!

The business model is to release products in cycles. They announce a new release, and then put it on their website for purchase.

You can go to the store now, and you will find the Regulator / De-Regulator's still for sale. Please note these will not be around long, as they are about to be replaced with the ScrapiZashi (sword).

Take a look on Ebay or BladeForums exchange (busse / scrapyard / swamprat) for people selling their Dumpster Mutts. You can also find them at shows, when the Busse group attends.

Some of the wiser Dogs will pitch in here, and help explain it better than me.

Sure did, but from a distance brother....had my 6.8 SPC barrel config in my MRP, so, he got a load of DPX <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Notice the hole in his side (had my scope on, so I was shooting a bit low, lol).

Welcome to the Yard. The DM is a stout knife the Scrapper5 (not listed on the knife page) is another good one in that size. Like was said before keep an eye on the Exchange.

I even got a PM from somebody selling a brand new desert tan dumpster mutt for $120 (good deal? since i assume they normally go for more than retail since theyre small runs)

Well I had two, I sold the 5/8" sabre ground version and kept the 1/4" DC version. The 5/8" was just too think for what I needed to use it for. It went for $140 on Ebay so I would say $120 is a good deal if thats the knife you want..

What are the stats on the scrapper 5? the handle on the scrapper 4 looks awesome, but thats a bit too small for me. a 6 is a bit big, so the 5 sounds perfect.. whats the thickness/steel/etc

The cg S5 is sr101 and is 3/16 thick, the LE is infi and 3/16 thick

Hm, I think ill go with the dumpster mutt.. love how thick it is XD

are there any super cool aftermarket sheaths that this would fit into?

These are GREAT quality. The "short" is made to fit up to a 6" blade. I think this will work.
Awesome sheath for the woods but it's not very "sheeple" friendly.
Other options include Kydex or leather from one of the local makers like Rainwalker, AZWELKE or David Brown.

Im not sure how easily i'd find one.. (probably cant) But an upside-down sheath would be awesome, Do all kydex sheaths hold tight so you can do that? (ive never had one, im a bit on a knife newb)

Zogg, a WELL FITTED kydes should carry inverted just fine. BUT IS NOT WISE! Just think, you're lost, cold, hungry, you've got a pile of woood limbs, fresh caught (by hand) fish and when you took that head over heels tumble 3 hours back your inverted carry knife came out! Go with something that carries NORMALLY and has a good strap (or 2) around the handle.

Just my 2 cents worth. Oh and Welcome to the greatest addiction you can have that isn't against the law!

oh man!!!! if you ever get the chance get a Scrap Muk!!! i think it is one of the best releases from the Yard for sure!

I have large hands. All the "Mudder" handles like the ones on the Scrapper 5, Scrap Muk, Street Scrapper 4, Mud Puppy and others fit me fine. The other small handles that are on the Yard Keepers and Dumpster Mutts are too small for me. Of course, the big handles like those on the Scrapper 6 are fine. The S5 has SR101 steel, except for the LE, which is INFI. Blade is 3/16" thick.

Now to find a sheath. Everyone ive talked to i have to send out the DM to get it fitted (does make sense, just sucks ><) Ill def have to use it for a little before i send it out though. I certainly didnt buy it to look at how pretty it is XD

It'll all be worth it in the long run. Gotta get it some "Pants" i guess (see im catching on! XD)
