Anyone interested in a more live chat option for the yard? I would personally like to see a chat room on the Scrap Yard web site just for us dogs. There are plenty of options for it too.

Update : Try this link

I went with no. I wouldn't use a live chat, so could have almost as easily gone with "I don't care". However, I didn't out of concern that it might divert some of the active participants away from this forum. Also, occasionally conflicts arise that the Mods need to intervene on. I think a live chat might get out of hand more easily.

I voted "I don't care". I think I'd probably use it on occasion....there's a couple of forums I frequent that have it, but I rarely engage. It's hard to get "content" from most of the live chat, but if you get to know the folks...you can be very direct with questions and get feedback even faster than posting, which is a great asset. I think I'm just old school...and I don't like being tied to a comp if I don't want to be. Forums help me accomplish a balance...I can search and visit and post at my leisure.

Good poll though!

No because I have no idea how to do it.

Yes.

I really enjoy the chat room on another forum I frequent called Lightfighter.

A live sip and talk would be great!

However, it would be easier for the users if the chat room were built into the forum software vice having to go to another site and create another account and remember another login / password etc.

Agreed 100% if you want to have the members "adopt" it.

So, very divided, which is fine. I've found a solution that lets those of us who would like a more immediate experience get just that while at the same time browsing this forum.

Click this link and it will take you to the forum main page, but open a small window with a chat box in it. If you have a wide screen monitor I can recommend that you use the "Vertical dock" option.

Changing your name in the "Name:" box would probably also be helpful.

Yes.

Forums are not for chatting. Its a lot easier not having to refresh the page to see if anyone replied.

I voted yes, I think its a good idea, even though I do like the forum the way it is.
