Sad day for all. I wonder where are the gungho students, if I were there I would have retaliate with everything, fire hose, Fire extinguishers, rocks..or run, hide for cover. (C&C)
I don't oppose CCW, but say if I'm there in civilian clothing dueling it out with the shooter with a handgun, SWAT came in, I believe the SWAT will shoot me as well in all the choas. Unless I'm a crack shot and got him first, I might be mistaken as a 2nd shooter. I wonder why no one pull the fire alarm or something. Campus security? Safety alarms. I believe after 911, campus security was stepped up because of the chemistry, gas, microbes in labs can be potential weapon. Worst of all no PA system or general alarm! Painful lesson for all now.
hindsight is always best = 20/20. i too wish i was there.

No offense to LEO.. but in most cases police do Not (can Not) prevent crimes in progress.. By the time they can get there.. it's usually to take reports/witnesses.. sad fact.

From what i hear this SOB chained the doors shut?

In all these school shootings, the children are Defenseless.
ok this was a College.. it could've been different.. but..

i have no words.. just goddam senseless..

Very bad indeed! I hope the bastard burns in hell!
It is times like these that the eternal "Lake of Fire" punishment seems just, Dan.

I just heard from my dad that the kid was a Chinese exchange student... Wow.

This just ticks me off all the more! This is what I have against letting everyone, from everywhere easiliy into this country. We are running out of space, the counrty disappears, we are only focused on entertainment and sports and have lost our values. This is the decline of the Roman empire all over again. History is repeating itself! We let anyone into this country and they do what they please. This man may have who knows what type of background in his country and may even have killed there too.

I am not saying that our own countrymen are inoccent of doing crimes like this, but now we are letting them in too. We need to focus on our problems here at home and stop worrying about other countries and their crap.

Rant off!

Welcome to the new Third World.

I agree HD! The US is becoming a third world country, because our politicians cater to the rest of the world and ignore their own citizens.

There will in all likely be another Civil war in this country. Look at iraq, no one there can agree on anything and so civil war. This country is on the brink, it is just a matter of time.

I know people who have been stockpiling weopons, ammo, and food for years waiting on the next big disaster. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The shooter was 8 on entry to the US so probably hadn't killed overseas.. The youngest gun killer I can recall was a 5 year old American.

My heart bleeds for the victims of this disaster and their families. I wish the shooter had just quietly shot himself and left everyone else out of it. There isn't an easy solution for these things, otherwise after so many before this would never have occurred.

My thoughts are with the families and friends.

Not really. From MSNBC:

Quote
Thirty-three people were confirmed dead after the bloodbath Monday, including the gunman, whom police identified as Cho Seung-Hui (pronounced Choh Suhng-whee), of Centreville, Va., a senior in the English Department. Cho was a resident alien who immigrated to the United States from South Korea in 1992.

Condolences to those families. May that killer burn in the hell. And yeah, pp1 should be armed. Even a folder could help a lot if it's in the right hand.

The news at the time that I posted that was that it was a Chinese student who had come in on a visa last year. Only today did it come out that it was a student from S. Korea.

I lived in Korea for about 3 years, and was amazed at how peaceful their culture is - most of the time. Definately something that wouldn't have happened in Cho's home country.

I don't really think thats the real issue. My wife is an immigrant and my son was born while we were overseas - every last one of us comes from immigrant families unless you're 100% Native American.
