I agree 110% with Dmelon Close the borders and worry about number one, us the United States of America!

I don't really think thats the real issue. My wife is an immigrant and my son was born while we were overseas - every last one of us comes from immigrant families unless you're 100% Native American.
It is very difficult for Europeans to immigrate here. Our immigration quotas favor Asians, Africans, and Latinos over Europeans. People from Europe founded the USA and created this nation, yet they are discriminated against by our current immigration law. We are being overwhelmed by illegal immigrants from Mexico as well. It will not be at all like the America my ancesters and I knew. It will be like every other third world nation very soon, if we do not reform our laws and defend our borders once again. But this particular act of individual terrorism could have been perpetrated by a native-born American just as easily, I agree.

Hey Dice Don't think that I am against immigration but if we stop the influx of illegals we will have less of a problem here. Don't think I want to ruffle any feathers but we need to get this country into shape before we end up in a war with ourselves. Personally I am stocked up on all sorts of goodies, ammo, KNIVES, rifles, etc. Be prepared, be ready, not just a bug out bag but be ready now, have supplies on hand in your car have a full tank of gas be ready to walk for miles to get home and HAVE a plan for your family to meet you there.....Maybe a thread on this subject is in order.

Stan - great idea, really. I have a BOB and enough stuff so that we could jump in the explorer and survive for... 2 weeks probably (minimally). 5 gallons of water, 4 MRE's, a couple dozen granola bars and energy bars, and all the other goodies (warm clothes, fire making supplies, fishing gear, etc.)

Vic - I agree w/ you 100%. I'd also venture to say that European culture is so very similar to US culture that it didn't take my wife any time at all to "adapt" to the "American Way" of life. Having lived in an Asian country (Korea) I can say that the cultural differences are huge.

Yes, I know, the "melting pot," but I'm talking about the way our society functions - in the mainstream sense. Definately an European based culture.

Stan - you should start a thread in the "outdoors and fieldcraft" forum (at the main index). I'd be interested in hearing about everyone's setup!

I think we should have a quota of only 10,000,000 a year for good-looking young Russian women.

I lived in Eurpoe for 5 years (state department brat) and Europe is a completely different way of life. At least in my opinion. I however, would say that Canadien culture is similar, there are some differences but a lot of similarities.

Good call!

Jerry - I guess I haven't been all over Europe, but Russian culture is very similar to US culture - and they make up a big portion of Europe .

I'm having a conversation via IM with Gravelface about that very subject. Let me know if you want in.

Ohh those crazy ruskies.

In all seriousness though. While there are some similarities between european countries (we are ancestors afterall) and the United States there are also a lot of differences.

Yes, it was the more adventurous Europeans that came here and founded a unique culture, or actually several of them. I've lived in Germany and Britain.

Where in Germany? We were in Munich.
