More details are coming out about the deranged man who murdered 32 college students in VA. There will always be disturbed people among us. They cannot all be reached in time. It seems to me that the people in charge of these dormatories should be trained and armed. If just one other person in that building had been armed and trained, many lives might have been saved. Just my pathetic two cents worth on this horrible tragedy. It is just so horrible to think that these bright, young people will never have a chance to live their lives.

If Concealed Carry permits were extended to schools, especially universities (they're all adults there), then this could have been avoided - or at least there would have been people that had a fighting chance in every classroom to save lives - instead of letting that MF'er shoot people like fish in a barrel. 1 person with a CCW could have saved 20+ of those lives, easily.

I did not hearabout this until today. what a shame.

Yep, I know I would have acted had I been caught up in the tragedy.

Ok, I am sorry if this was taken as closing the borders. What I meant was that we make it to easy (and I should have put this in) for illegals, not that I am saying that he was illegal. I was very surprised that this was not done by and American kid since we are more prone to this type of behavior. And YES any American kid could have done this just as anyone could have. I have NO problem with legal immigration.

I don't think that we need to close borders at all we just need to have stronger laws against illegals. They tend to have more rights than we as Americans do.

That being said, the rant above was directed because they, the news, said that he was an exchange student and was only here for a short while. Nothing was said about him being Korean and his parents living in the states. I though he was a RECENT immigrant who just decided to explode here. From here or not is now not the issue. He was a disturbed individual and should have offed himself instead of taking so many with him.

My wife is Mexican, her mother was born there and legally immigrated. I know because I asked and checked. Her father was born here as was his mother. She understands when I go off about our friends from the south coming up here illegally and not learning to speak English. Her mother speaks English but only speaks in Spanish to her kids and they (my wife included) respond in English to her. She speaks English to me although it is broken English. The least they can do is learn the language and try to assimilate. My great grandparents came here in 1895 on both sides. My grandparents were all born here. They were FORCED to speak English. We should not have signs in Spanish and here in Chicago, Polish. They need to learn English just as we would learn their language if we lived in their country. Instead many, NOT all, but many refuse to. And many, again NOT all, that I have spoken to don’t even like living in this country…. They just like the opportunities here. I am tired of being used like a door mat.

Our country (I mean out in the country not the USA) is disappearing. With the influx of the illegals it pushes people who lived in neighborhoods for 30 or more years out to the suburbs and country and open space disappears. Some examples are:

I was out in Buffalo Grove this weekend. There was located on Old Half Day Road a restaurant in the oldest house in that area. I saw it not to long ago and they demolished it! Gone for good! They will put up another mini mall complete with Blockbuster and Starbucks. They funny thing is that they build things out there to resemble Victorian styles but tear down the real thing. This is history lost. Another is a farm where the owners are filthy rich. It has been in their family for generations. They sell plants, flowers, pumpkins, doughnuts and cider. They are selling this farm and their heritage so that more houses can be built. My family out in Genoa, far out into the country. Farms around there are selling off fields for house and our illegal friends from the south are moving out there because the farmers hire them on as pickers. More space gone. The mayor of Rosemont wants to build more hotels. There are already 20 and more are going up. Rosemont is nothing but hotels. He wants to buy the Forest preserve property to expand along the river. In exchange he would buy more land for them further south. This would not only destroy some of the most beautiful forest along the river but my whole 800 year old Indian village and other relics along the river would be lost forever because of this. He already has a water park going up right across the street from there. This man is very corrupt and it is only a matter of time.

I as someone trying to protect this area find it difficult… I know that change happens but I can’t keep up as every time I preserve one thing something else is lost.

We are growing to quickly form the increase of people and the environment can only take so much. Before long all will be lost.

My rant about this being the decline of the Roman Empire stems from the fact that America is to busy worrying about other countries and policies than correcting it’s own internal problems.

We went from a great power to a materialistic society who now only values entertainers, Hollywood, Angelina (even tho she is hot!!), Brad Pitt, Brittany Spears, American Idol and sports. We do not care about anything but what is going on in their lives and their opinions. This is a down fall. Myspace for example, my 15 year old niece has an account which I monitor randomly which she knows. She was adopted on by her grandmother and her own mother is dead, don’t get me started about the father! She like just about all kids her age is lazy and only wants to watch TV and hang with her friends. She invites people who are on her friends list on myspace some of whom are located in her area and even go to her school. They are all around 14,15,16,17 and 18. Surprise, surprise… The girls are ghetto and even one has a photo of herself…. Pregnant. The boys all dress like little gangsters and emulate the Scareface. They have gang symbols on their page and they all think that they are tough. They refer to their girlfriends as the wifey and when the type out their msgs this is how it is written:

Hay dogg! Wat up wit my boo? I ain’t got no skewl today so comes over and gets wit me!. I am not kidding about this!!

This is very pathetic and this is what is really happening out there. And this is coming from every race on there, not just a select few, so this is not about that. And it is both boys and girls. Myspace has a rule that no nudity can be posted. I have found different “friends” owned by local 15 and 16 year old girls who go to her school in revealing lingerie… You can really see that Myspace cares about that rule when these are underage kids doing this. It’s all about the money for them.

I immediately delete these things and I told her that if I see anything that she may be doing wrong I will delete the account. She for the most part is a good kid and my wife and I are her Godparents. I feel like I have a daughter because I am more of the disciplinarian than my wife is. I told her that she needs to see her high school counselor about college and that when she is finally in college most of these loser punks will be in jail or dead. The problem is that these kids in her school all think that they are hard asses. I told her that they would start crying if the crap really hit the fan, then we would really see how tough they are.

I know. When we were kids we too got into fights, were distracted and some of us did not care about school. But we have to admit that we had nothing like these kids today. On a whole they care for nothing. It shows as we are one of the lowest, if not The lowest when it comes to schooling in the world. Europe, Asia and even my parts of Africa have it right. Just from my experience the kids in the villages are far more polite and in many cases smarter that our average kids. They do not have the distractions and if they do such as in Europe, well they then just have a different set of values! Values that put weight on being educated not welfare ignorant people such as our country allows. I find that these children have more respect than our own. Again, I know they are not all perfect but compared to our majority they are faring better.

We are allowing too much to happen and we are not putting our foot down as a society to stop it. We are to politically correct and that is not good. We need to focus on our countries problems as the day will come when we are to far behind that there will be no way of getting out of it.

The world is not perfect nor will it ever be. You can’t have good without evil, it does not work like that. If we did however try to focus on getting along with each other we could make it a better place to live. But how are we supposed to help other countries, when we can’t even help ourselves?

We are going backwards by allowing our future (children) to demean themselves. Remember that they are the ones who will run things when we are old.




Countries are like people. They beat up on each other because they have low self esteem about themselves.

I love my friends here in the Yard! I have learned a lot from you guys and this is a great place to be! I can discuss anything and ask for advice. We are our own melting pot and I am proud to know all of you both American and Foreign born. Too bad all the countries in the world did not come here to discuss things there probably would not be any war. Ok wishful thinking. But you know what I mean! This is how things should be, everyone getting along!!

Please do not think that I was being an [censored] because of this. This is only an observation from my years of traveling the world and observing people here in our own country.

I did not mean to stir the pot. I just merely think that we need to repair our own society before repairing someone else’s.

Very well put, Dan. I have no problem with legal immigrants, either. I do believe that to discriminate against those of European ancestry is very wrong, too. I am not ever going to be cowed or made to feel guilty about my "pure" English, Scots, Norse, Irish, Cherokee heritage. This is the greatest nation in the history of mankind, and I wish to preserve it. Let the other nations improve themselves, and their people will not be forced to flee and come here. We cannot take everyone (except for the 10 million a year good-looking young Russian women).

Dan good rant, Vic make sure some of the Russian babes make it to good old Blighty!

On a more serious note, Dan you have made many good points and sadly paint a bleak future.. Germany got into a similar mess in the 30's and look what happened there! Let's hope America finds a Winston Churchill not an Adolf Hitler to save the realm.
