Will negotiate next week. I'm going to pay full value - we just don't know what that is yet... seeing as it has no lawyers, better be pretty [censored] low. The retired partner is keeping the doors open right now. I'll be looking at buying fixtures, form files, library, vault of wills (not buying the wills themselves, but the storage container - the wills belong to the clients), good will (the retired partner giving full support of transition, encouraging clients to continue to store wills in the office and have me probate them upon death), etc. The name is valuable as they have been very successful in the region for 50 years. Small town. In desperate need of lawyers. My best friend from childhood is also in his last year of law school (he has a semester to go yet) - we are going in together.

Sort of working a drug deal. The estate of the deceased partner is going to have to finance us - because we can't get a loan given our student debt. They'll also have to front us about 6 months of operating capital. It is going to be a good deal - they're kicking in a lot.
