I used to have a Marlin .44 mag lever gun, loved it. But my ex wife talked me into selling it because "we needed the money" Turns out, she needed the money for a habit that she was hiding from me. Grrrrrr. She cost me some VERY nice guns over the 10 years we were together
Have one, been one of my camp guns for years.
I bought it about 18 years ago I think

It was a great little brush gun. Compact and packed a punch. Carried it hog hunting till I got the Ruger.

I thought about trying to find another one, but every time I get the cash set aside for a new gun something else happens. You know how that goes LOL

What ruger the original or the newer version.
My brother has the newer version, and it is not very accurate

I use it when bush hunting where I don't think I will have any long shots.

I had the older version. It would hit an apple at 75 yards, which is about as far as I ever shoot in my area. I figured that was good enough for me

Had a friend that had the older type, he sold it for $75.
Of course I didn't know about it until after he sold it

The Rugers were never known for accuracy, oddly enough. But the deer I shot never had any complaints. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Wow! I'd have yanked his arm off! Mine had the Williams peep sight setup on it. I loved that gun.

When I went to South Carolina to hunt, longer shots there. I carried a .308 or a .25/06 down there. You can get shots 300 yards plus where we used to hunt, but I gave that up years ago. Just didn't have the time.

Thinking about getting in on a hunting club for next year, now that the kids are grown.
