I'd hate to run across a grizzly period. MAYBE a shotgun loaded with slugs or a 45/70 guide gun would be enough?
I usually hunt with my 338 winmag or 450 marlin when up north.
When sleeping in a tent in grizz country I usually have my mossberg 500 with the 18 1/2 inch barrel loaded with slugs.
I also sleep with a large sharp knife in case I have to cut my way out of the tent

Same here. I bought a box for him at the last gunshow I went to, 20 rounds was nearly $50. Can't afford to waste many. He shoots it one time before each deer season to check the zero. Doesn't shoot it again unless he's shooting at a deer.

I wanted to learn to hand load just for that gun, but never did. I could have bought a nice Model 70 a couple years ago in .284, but the lack of factory ammo kept me from it. I still kick myself for letting it get past me.

Todd for Grizzley, NOTHING less than a MINI-GUN!

Thanks Bill, I appreciate it. It's a little tireing at times but I'm doing ok. We just set around a lot reading or playing on the computer. She has became a Facebook Farmville Junkie! She signed me up but I just do it to help her out on her game.
My wife has had health problems on and off over the last 8 or 9 years and it can be tiring to work all day, then come home to a sick wife.

I told you that I put that key fob on my fridge and every time I see it I think of you guys.

My one brother has a model 88 and a model 100 in 284.
He collects them and has all of the calibers they came in plus one that he re-chambered to 338 federal.
The model 100 in 243 is going to be my daughters rifle when she goes hunting

The 338 federal is a re-chambered model 88 with an 18 1/2 inch barrel and synthetic stock

Dad has a .284 and a .308 Model 100. Great old guns. I think they may have been a little before their time. If they were introduced now, I think they would be wildly popular.

THANKS Bill. If your wife or you ever gets on facebook look Patty up. And if she messages (is that the right word) Patty be sure and mention y'all are from "MY" knife site.

I have a model 88 and I love it, the only thing I would change on it would be to get the carbine version instead of the rifle.
The one I have is a 308
Internally they work very similar to a blr however without the hammer many traditional lever action lovers just found the gun ugly

I have a REM 600 I traded a ah crap, can't even remember the name anymore, Single shot Rem bolt action pistol in 223 for. Ah XP100. Now IF it had been a heavy barrel .308 w/3 shot intenal mag, left side bolt, I would have kept it!
