The 88 is a savage right? smooth flowing rear on the receiver blending into the stock. I thought they looked pretty nice.

Randy, tell her to look my wife up. She's into that Facebook Farmville stuff.

Model 88 was a levergun that looked a lot like the Model 100, just had the lever underneath. Both made by Winchester

My 600 is the plain jane mohawk version.
No barrel rib or monte carlo stock.
The only thing I would change on my rifle is to have a detachable magazine instead of the internal one

The model 88 is a winchester, the savage model 99 which looked fairly similar.

Dad had a .300 Savage in the Model 99 that he traded on the Model 100. He never regretted it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Oh ok, just goes to show how long I've been out of the gun thing.
I am good up to about the early 1990's then I am lost.
If my one brother wasn't up on all of the modern equipment, I would probably be totally lost.
I still don't "get" most of these new calibers though

Bill, yeah that's the one I have as well. I really like it, light, short and shoots well. Now it won't shoot like my REm 700 VLS (10 pound gun naked), but then it does not have a 26 inch bull barrel either.

I never liked the action on the model 99, they always felt stiff to me
