I haven't seen any wilson combats yet, but quite a few kimbers, they are very nice, question, I know for self defense , lot of people say the stopping power of the 45 is better than the 9mm, but since the 45 is a larger round, wouldn't it be much louder (more hearing damage) if you fire it off inside your house with out hearing protection?

Probably not. I know this will sound strange, but the 45 is more of a boom sound and the 9mm more of a crack. Probably something to do with bullet speed. Personally I like a 45. I want the biggest hole, the most destruction per shot that I can get and handle reasonably well.

IF you can, shoot both cals and see what you think about them. Oh another good gun is Para ordanance. Check them out as well. you can get them in double stack mags which equals MORE ROUNDS!

What ever you get, IF you are serious about CC with it invest in a good quality hand made holster. IF posible get one that will allow for inside waistband or outside the pants carry. AND get you a double mag pouch as well. I know one would be enough (probably) but do you want to bet your life on a probability!

That makes sense, I shot a full sized 1911 the other day, I liked it, didn't seem to be that much kick as I was expecting, defintely could not carry it around town, but as a SHTF gun or home defense it would be awesome

Oh and to further answer your "Noise" question, IF you were to ever have to fire it for self protection, you probably wouldn't hear the sound anyway. Sounds strange but the sound just wouldn't register with you. Same problem with tunnel vision. You will be so Zoned in on the threat you will forget, not see your surroundings.

I was reading about that the other day, they say you still damage your hearing, just just don't notice it right away, adrenaline or something to that effect

Oh and also if you get a handgun for CCW invest in a good QUALITY belt. I used cheap single thickness LIMP leather belts for years. Finally got a good quality double thickness lined belt and it like driving a Yugo and then getting in a Caddy!

Yeah, ANY loud noise will be damaging, but with a handgun being fired indoors, HOPEFULLY it will happen so rarely to be a non issue in the long run.

Hehe, even a .22 in an enclosed space is a lot louder than you would think.

I'm sure, I was surprised how loud it was the first time I went to go shoot, I knew it was loud, but I guess movies and TV kinda make you think differently untill you actually do it

hey, if all else fails get yourself a pair of the electronic ear muffs and keep them close by. I THINK that they can be set up to ENHANCE normal sounds while muffling the sound of gunshots. THAT could help you to better hear someone in your house.
