The CZ are a great pistol. I have had a DW CBOB (regret getting rid of), a Razor Back in 10mm, and currently have/carry/shoot a DW 2010 Valor. Back a few years ago the DW was a great bargain, but now are getting up there in price where justification for a used Les Baer might be a consideration. The Valor has no MIM, solid built and was limited to 1500 pieces for the full size and 1500 pieces for the CBOB style. Oh yeah, 1500 for each style in black and 1500 for each style in SS. Mine is SS. I carry it in a Nick Mathews IWB holster.

A buddy's grandfather was a clock maker. He passed on and my buddy went down and got some of the old growth walnut in LA. Buddy picked out a stick and has sent it to Craig Speigel to see if the wood can be used for grips, I am hoping so. If so, there will be about 12 sets of grips made out of it by Speigel, checkered into Double Diamond, and taken by OK shooters who are interested. Can I say if this comes to frutation my Valor will have a set of Speigels on it for less than 60 bucks!

Randy, the roast beef and cheese sounds good--so much that I will hit an eatery tonight that has something called a Beefeater which is two pieces of garlic toast, provolone cheese, sliced roast beef, lettuce, tomato, and mayo (real mayo). OH MAN! Wonder how butter infused with garlic powder would taste! I also like it with horseradish sauce! Oh and we use mayo at home. Not bought a jar of miracle whip since Patty and I got together 14 years ago. Before that I didn't know there was a difference between mayo and miracle whip!

Wow, that would be a nice price on the grips. I used to think that grips had to have checkering on them. I found out different. My Colt (full size) has a set of plastic sort of swirly black/white grip panels on them. Not bad looking, a LOT better than the plastic ones that were on it when I got it. I've thought about getting a set to fake ivory grips for it, (ivory micarta) but just havn't. I think they would look nice on the black gun.
I remember YEARS ago I checked into a set of white with a Cobra on them (can you guess where THAT idea came from?). Oh BTW, if I remember the right way, the "45" he was using was actually a 9mm with glasers.

I love the feel of ivory but I need some sort of texture on a 1911 due to a couple boxers fractures that never healed correctly. Now I love the 25 lpi checkering on my Valor. Saying that, if I get another beater 1911 it will have elk stag on it!

Jrod, you will love the Valor. Mine is the full size and I carry it all the time. Now when the summer gets here I wont just because of the attire I wear. I would love to have a CBOB for that reason. Now this is going to sound bad but i have a set of Busse 1911 grips in green but can not find them--I hope they did not get tossed out in the trash along the way. Make sure you break the 1911 in correctly as the Valors are a good tight fitting pistol. Mine has shot everything that i have thrown at it from 230 gr ball, 230 gr hp's (various makes but Hydra Shoks are normal carry), 230 gr rn lead, and 200 gr lswc.

I have heard nothing but good things from the guys at Finer Grain grips. I might have to look at them too. I have a set of dyed burl wood grips from a guy called Zipps Grips. I love them but they are too slick. I have though about taking the dremel and making divets in them kinda like Paken does.

All I know is that the VZ slim grips that came on the Valor are not my favorite by any means. I also have a set of Swordfish Bill grips with a bear paw and my initials carved in them by me. Those grips look great on a dark colored 1911 but not so much on my SS.
