First knife I ever bought with my own money was a Old Timer Sharpfinger. Still have it somewhere. I was 13 at the time. Maybe.

I was pumping gas at the local store, and used my pay to buy a knife. Took a loooooong time to save enough to buy a knife back then, even if it was just $25 or so.

Bought my first knife for $5.00 when I was a 3rd grader. It probably wasn't worth that much but it was than new fangled stanless steel and had a hand guard that swung out with the blade and pivoted into position when it was fully opened. Mom and dad didn't know about it for a while but they were cool about it.

My dad took mine away, said I could carry it when I went hunting but other than that it had to stay in his gun cabinet. He thought it looked too dangerous for me. Didn't say anything about the Uncle Henry folder I carried <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I remember when I was a kid seeing gas for either I think 9 cents a gallon during "Gas Wars"! Ah the good old days!

The Sharpfinger was a fine little skinner and general utility knife, IMO. Probably my favorite small fixed blade "back in the day" as they say.
