He knows I respect him and if anyone (civilian) is around I do call him Sheriff.

Yeah He is a really good guy to work for/with. But he can "get on to ya" if he needs to and we all know it's not personal, just boss/worker matters.

I'd love to work in a small dept like yours. Ours is small enough, but still feels too big sometimes. Lots of behind the scenes politics go on here.

My Dad and I were talking about him the other day and Dad said that Carl is the FIRST Sheriff that he has never heard any "dirt" on, and Dad has been around here since 1951, and Carl has been Sheriff since 2004.

Thank goodness, we DON'T have that here. All TOTAL, counting Deputies, Jailers, Dispatchers two "office workers" and reserve officers we have 32 people.

Ours here is as clean as I can figure. You always hear stuff on them at election time, but I've never heard anything that I believed. Most people that have complaints are people that he's arrested or are afraid they're gonna be arrested.

The New girl asked me the other night if I slept here. I told here NO, but that I have fallen asleep a few times. She was talking to the Sheriff and she said she was scared to death she would fall asleep as she has never worked Mids before. The Sheriff told her that I will come in, do my required work and then prop my feet up and watch TV. He said he didn't care as long as the phones were answered and if anyone came in the front door they were heard coming in. I have never missed a call or not heard someone coming in the door. So then the apprehension seemed to sort of go out of her. This month she will be working Mids on my two nights off.

My partner went to days last week, switched with a guy that wanted nights. I could have took it, but I don't care for dayshift.

New partner is working out pretty well. He and I are a lot alike, which makes for an....entertaining....evening!

He's not into knives. I sharpened his Kershaw Needs Work up for him shaving sharp. He was impressed!

We listen to music some nights, he'll bring a laptop in and we watch videos and listen to music from it.

Cool. Working with a partner has it's advantages, but after working alone for all these years I would find it really difficult to work with a partner.
