WOW, that really cleaned up nice Youte! Congrats on a Classic! Now I am going to show my stupidity. Is it a marbels or western, heck maybe even an old case?

Not stupid at all Randy. I posted a picture of that knife on knife forums a couple of years ago. Mike Stewart had asked to see a picture of it because it sounded odd to him. After seeing the pictures he offered to clean it up for free if I would send it to him to study because he had not seen one like it before. In the end he could not positively identify the manufacturer but he thinks it is most likely a Wade & Butchers copy of the Marbles Woodcraft blade and he felt it was probably made around 1936 to 1938. The Sharpshooter sheath was a gift from Mike for sending the knife to him to study.

I bought that knife for $2 at a swapmeet when I was 14 or 15. I have used it on deer, elk, moose and preparing/eating meals. When I was younger I did not listen to my dad and stored it in its leather sheath

Nothing wrong with a patina. Matter of fact I like knives that way. Heck I shoved my Gunny down in a potato to turn it, turns out the spud was to small and split and I got good blade coverage with a deep narrow V on each side.
Mike did a good job cleaning it up and the sheath was really nice of him. Hum..... Wonder what he would do for a Vorpal sword he made YEARS ago..., Blackjack that is.

He offered to clean up my Bravo 1 for the cost of return shipping, but I didn't bother as I knew I would use it. I don't abuse my knives, but I do use them. I do coat the blades in mineral oil, but I just love the look of a well used carbon blade with a patina

I hope this will do it. Vorpalsmall by SKUNK HUNTER, on Flickr Maringer Vorpal Sword by "Blackjack Classic Blades" has the dagger through the Ace of spades logo.
