on bf they kept complaining about the outcast chipping, i never had that problem with mine.
I chopped with my original one but haven't done it with my new one.
I think they are a real bargain for the price
TOTAL BS!
I've broken every myth with my outcast that has ever been said of D2, The only thing you don't really want to do with D2 is bend it or smack it on the side (like using the flat of the blade as a hammer). I've chopped lots of trees, hit many rocks, and even went full force into reebar without a chip. I think the main problem is that 99% of those saying "it chipped" have no clue what a chip really is. I've seen to many times where someone said "chip" when it was a heavy roll or deformation.
I was in one such discussion and decided to call kershaw to see if I could learn more about the heat treatment used. It was said the Rc is 57-58 with a spring temper, I'm still waiting on picture of a chipped blade.........
