In reference to my above post, it at least was, something they did in Thailand. They would put a paper over a temple carving and rub the paper with charcoal thereby creating an etching that they would then sell to tourists.

I had an old Marlin 30-30 that had the waffle top pattern, been there done that look that I traded to my dad for a M38 Nagant yesterday. My dad really likes the 30-30 and I like the 54R cartridge so why not. Now the thing is I need to load him some ammo up for his 30-30's so he can do some shooting with them. I had to get my mind of something.........

Randy, you are right. I have a buddy that will be going back to the PI when his retirement time gets here in a couple years.......something about the hold of a certain lady there and a couple anchors that he left with her. He really likes the PI so who am I to try and change his mind.

One things for sure, he will be able to love a lot cheaper there (depending upon WHERE he goes) than He can here. I didn't know it until it was about half done, but my first wife built her family (we moved into the ground floor bedroom) and if I remember correctly, the TOTAL PRICE for land, well (hand pump driven well), house and the concrete brick wall around the property was somewhere South of $3K. Course this was back in the '75-77 time frame.

Navy. Around Subic at the moment. Not sure where they will end up, but it sounds like a smaller island.

He loves it there, loves his wife and kids........I did ask him when the first one was born if it was his------yep, no denying it, half Irish/half Filipino.

I told him that he better go back because he could not find another woman in the world that will put up with him LOL. Heck, she might not when she has to be with him all the time.....he is my friend but I call it the way I see it.
