I was looking over my Z.E.T.s, (Zombie Elimination Tools) the other day, and began to wonder to myself, which one would I grab first in a real Zombie emergency, those wasted moments of thought could be the difference between life and being undead! A Chop Off was in order to determine the best of the best. For this chop off I won't be taking down trees or concrete blocks, but more traditional targets like wood core pool noodles, water jugs and bottles and of course, watermelons ( I might throw in a few bones or meat chop ups, if I can get a good price)First, lets meet the contestants!
First is my HI kukri and Swamp Rat Waki
[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]
Next is the Koyote Boar Hunter and Scrap Yard Skizzy
[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]
Finally is the Cheness Nagasa Katana (pictured with the skizzy to show scale)
[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]
All together
[Linked Image from i1010.photobucket.com]
A few specs

Name----------------Blade Length------OAL------thickness----Steel

Cheness Nagasa----------30in--------------42in-----1/4in--------9260 spring
HI Kukhri---------------20in--------------26.5in---1/2in------------?
Scrap Yard Skizzy-------17in--------------27in-----3/16in-------SR-77
Swamp Rat Waki----------17in--------------27.5in---3/16in-------Diff treat SR101
Koyote Boar hunter------14in--------------22.3in---1/4in------------8670M

CHOP OFF TO FOLLOW LATER THIS WEEK (AND MAYBE SOME VIDEOS TOO)
stay tuned

What???? Later this week??!!

What a cliff hanger!

FWIW, the Koyote can be called a dirk, trail knife...and something else I'm blanking on at the moment...

Let the games begin!

Watermelon MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM [Linked Image from i489.photobucket.com]
Why waste perfectly good watermelons when you can just shoot the zombies with one of your new guns?[Linked Image from i760.photobucket.com]

OK OK,this is a knife forum after all,so if a few watermelons have to be sacrificed so be it,
on with the hacking & whacking! [Linked Image from i760.photobucket.com]

Eh, no offense guys but I think I want something more like this to fight off the zombie hordes. Or maybe the mechanized version.

I'm hoping tomorrow afternoon if it's not raining again. Nothing but rain for the last 3 days in the afternoon. I have the wood core pool noodles all ready and my waterbottles, still waiting obln the watermelons but I'm gonna at least get this sucka going tomorrow. And if you guys are thinking about getting a cheness, do it, for the price you won't find a better katana IMO

I'm thinking the Rodent Waki. The G10 won't absorb any zombie brain matter. This will help prevent future infection due to the handle coming in contact with any open wounds.

Nice! I'm glad you had a slo-mo on the end. Never saw the blades. I like the looks of the Koyote but looks like you had some depth issues with it.

Skizzy made short work of that jug. Must resist the Skizzy.

excellent point, i didn't think of that. the scrapizashi handle will probably absorb a lot of zombie gore, which could easily lead to accidental-self-zombification

That scrapizashi looks to be the winner of the bussekin swords to date. The ak47 was pretty cool, but in a short sword I'd rather have the ridiculous shock/impact resisting qualities of sr77 than the edge holding of sr101. The all around godliness of infi wouldn't be bad either. i think the skizzy looks cooler too

Why would the shock resisting qualities be more important than the edge holding abilities?

I am still new to Bussekin and I am interested in people choices of steel

thanks

I would personally rather have a sword that won't break or take a set from bad contact than a sword that holds an edge forever but might break or bend, its really only applicable to standard steels, all the Busse steels are amazing

Yeah, at half an inch thick, I wouldn't want to have to swing it alot all at once, but I'd bet it would easily remove a zombie head, we shall see when I get to the melon chopping!
