So I haven't gotten a copy of the pics from this weekends Schutzenfest yet, although it was once again a great time! Had some tracers laying around and was able to launch some at dusk on Sat. Very cool, one of the guys videoed it and am hoping to get a copy. But in the mean time as I am cleaning some of the guns today I figured I'd at least post some pics. Enjoy!

And my current favorite and go to weapon, my Polish Tantal 5.45x39. This one is remarkably accurate, just really impressed me this weekend.

Yes, I have a thing for black rifles and black knives....the FAL was originally all black, original look but got a deal on the Israeli furniture and never looked back.

Very nice FAL.
I have a set of Izzy light barrel furniture, an Izzy lower and an Izzy gas block. One of these days I'm going to get a type 2 DSA upper and make a nice replica.
Arf arf arf... That's my other dog impression.

Nice rifles. I really like that FAL as well.
I have some Izzy lightweight furniture that I refinished, it's nice stuff. I need to get a pic of my dad's Izzy Heavy Barrel, it's a beast but fun to shoot prone and good looking. I have been trying to train more with AK's since I am so AR and FAL centric.

You have exactly the same taste as me when it comes to guns and knives Bozoracing. What do you think of the 5.45/39? I have heard a lot of people say it sucks compared to 7.62/39 but then the former soviet sniper I read an interview with says he and the sov soldiers really liked it. Since any AK based rifle even the Sagia shotgun and SVD is illegal in canada I won't be trying it out anytime soon. What is it like as far as buying surplus ammo? From what little information I could find it is more accurate at longer range than 7.62 and easier to control on full auto but loses some punch at close range.
I finished the comic book DVD I made you and I will stick it in the mail tomorrow. You will love it ,I put 300, Planatery ,Preacher ,Losers and a couple Palidin Press classics.

I like the 5.45 quite a bit. I think it is a vast improvement over the 7.62 ballistic wise. Very accurate. We did a walk through down in the range this weekend and after 2 shots to sight in I was able to consistantly hit the steel ram target at 400 yards. Funny, the older guys all had their bolt guns with bipods and scopes shooting 7 mags and .270's and yet me and my iron sights were still able to hang with them. They were impressed and they liked the looks of the 74 better than the others, even the FAL.
Follow up shots and double taps are all to easy. I really like this gun alot. When I picked up this kit 3 years ago, I wanted another AK but already had the AMD and a Russian SKS. So the Polish parts had just showed up on the market and I grabbed the Tantal for about $225 with 3 mags and a US fcg.
The ammo was a long time coming....unfortunately it dried up just as I was putting the kit together. Not to say there wasn't any, just had to buy it at the gunshows one 25 rd box at a time. But right now its the cheapest thing going. Bought a case of Bulgarian for about $120.00 shipped 3 weeks ago.
And magazines are dirt cheap, Copes Dist. has good used polymer Bulgarian mags for $5.99 each. I like cheap habits <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />.
And thanks Unsub, I'll be looking forward to the new reading material!

My dad has an AK74 and it's a nice AK. I like the 5.45 AK round and it seems to work quite well in terms of accuracy.
Bozo, looks like you and your pops are right in line with me and mine. We build up rifles and buy ammo like it's going out of style (and it has been lately). Its a great way to spend time with your dad.
