In all honesty I had told her; it was one of those very rare times when she really had forgotten. In any case, I am just glad she saw the value in the whole thing and it turned out for the better.

Trying to teach my girls self reliance, confidence, how to think for themselves etc. Few things give a feeling of confidence like starting a fire without matches (although in this case we cheated). That will be for when they are older.

you sound like a great dad! I have a friend who watches TV with his girls, especially the commercials and tries to teach them how their trying to brainwash them into wanting and buying things, now they (his girls) make fun of them! I thought that was great too good job man...
