That is a Hell Hog! I hunted wild hogs for years in the Georgia swamps, but I used a .44 Magnum, and no dogs were allowed where I was hunting. We have some big ones in Ga, too. Somebody killed one over 900 lbs near Tifton. They called it HogZilla. I hear that a movie is coming out about Hogzilla. Any of you ever see Razorback? One of my all time favorite B movies. I need a SYK boar spear! Very cool Vic....Dirty Harry style....how big was your Hogzilla? Thanx for mentioning the movie...I'll be sure to check it out this weekend... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> ![[Linked Image from img362.imageshack.us]](http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/3827/razorbacknt7.jpg)

I heard it was over 900 lbs. I wounded a big one, probably over 300 lbs with a 30-30. Never did catch him. Solid hit to the area behind the shoulder at about 50 yds. Then I bought a .375 Big Bore '94. Never got a shot on one with that rifle or with my S&W 429. I killed a small one with a .308. Now I have a 1894 Win in .44 Magnum. Always shoot the big ones in the head! ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/razorback.jpg)

I saw some show about Hogzilla where these guys tried to say that it Hogzilla was not 900 lbs or something like that but then they found the carcus etc... I dont' really remember what the heck happened but any hog that is even near 900 pounds is a beast.

With a title like that, it must be the greatest movie ever made! Well of course it is a great movie, Arkie. The only possible movie title greater than Razorback would be Bulldog! UGA UGA UGA!

but i've heard stories of neighbors/friends hunting them w/ pistols, and the hog taking multiple hits w/out going down, and charging fast!

man, that'd be Scary! That was the appeal. Sitting in a tree stand and shooting with a scoped rifle at deer just didn't appeal to me as much as chasing something through the swamps that might end up chasing me! The really effective hog hunters either use dogs (not allowed in Wildlife Mgt Areas) or shoot them from tree stands while hunting deer. My success rate was poor, but I sure had some fun. Hogs can smell you a mile away, so the only time you are likely to get a shot on one is with the wind in your face. And since they are low to the ground and hide in thick cover, that shot is usually < 50 yds. I got to get back into shape so I can go back after them this Fall in the Altamaha swamp. Hog hunting is big fun. I'll be carrying the Yard Guard when I go, too.
