Oh it's not the in-laws that are doubting, but some of the folks at our church. I am just tired of SOME of them having a holier than thou attitude. That IS NOT the way "religious folks" are supposed to act. Yeah I know we are human and revert to our human nature first, but we still need to try and as long as Patty has been sick (and they have seen it) they should know better.

Vampires, LOL, is that why the sun hurts so much? I HAVE to wear sunglasses when I'm out in the sun. Eyes hurt way too much if I don't. Now I don't know if that's because I work nights or not, but.....

That's the very thing that has turned me off of going to church. I used to be a deacon in our little church, but since it folded under, I've just not had the urge to become vested in another one.

unfortunately things like that happen. I am almost of the mind that it is just better to attend a church and not actually join one. OR IF you do join one, to not take part in the politics.

I don't wear shades all the time outside, but I do find myself wearing a hat a lot more. Just to shade my eyes mostly. I've been looking at Tilley hats lately. Nice but PRICEY! Although they do have a warranty against loss!

I love working nights, very little dealing with the brass, a WHOLE lot less phone and radio traffic, fewer walkins, etc. Plus I've worked nights for 20 of the 25 years I've been out of school. It's what I'm used to.

I actually turned down a day shift position here about two months ago, and they are hard to come by. But I just enjoy having my days open.

I have to wear shades in the sun - just a common sense thing for me. But then this crowd of us on here are the ones more likely to EDC useful things like FAK, sunglasses, pocket knife or 3. I still facepalm when a friend asks me why I carry X item AS THEY ARE USING IT haha

Yeah about 2 years ago the Sheriff gave me my choice of shifts AND days off! I talked to Patty and we decided that what I was working worked for us.
Started here in January of 1994 and been on nights exclusively since about 1996. AND the 20 years prior to that, in the AF, I worked mid shift about 1/3 of the time. If you count the 3-11 shift, 2/3.

I get kidded because I normally carry 3-4 knives on my person or in my bag, plus a couple of flashlights and paracord, sharpening kit, etc. But EVERYTHING I carry has been used at work in the past few months, including the flashlights. I've lent them out to deputies with broken lights, used paracord to tie down a broken trunk lid, and I'm always sharpening the deputies knives. But they keep kidding me......
