on public land the law says if it is on the surface, you shouldn't take it. But they don't mess with you but, they would like it reported even if you do take it.. if it is uncovered while digging,.. like a fire pit, you are supposed to leave it be and report it. big fine for digging. maybe even jail. I worked for the state a few (10) years ago. if you were caught digging (as an employee), automatic firing offense.. now river finds (in the river, not the shore) are different.. since they are already disturbed, you can take it, and again they would like a report... but that never happens..

No those are a mixture of what me and my three brothers and my father have found.

On their land its theirs.. just like if it is on yours... now you will get a visit if it is a major site or burial mound..
