I originally had a ticket for this last Monday. I cancelled it (due to slow reservist not being able to push my paperwork through) costing me some money. I have a new ticket for next Monday, which will probably need to be canceled too, but I held off on buying a ticket home when I get stateside. Not tricking me twice with the same gag.

Oh hurry up and wait time. I don't really miss that from my time. At least your stationed some place where there is something to do. When I got to play that game I was at the DMZ.

Very true. There are far worse places to be stuck. I did pick a really nice hotel for the Corps to put me up in too.

I have paid my dues before tough. I was stuck on a tarmac for days in Indonesia. I'd say it was during the summer, but the tarmac ran across the equator, so I don't think there are seasons there. It is either hot and dry or hot and rainy. It was dry when I was there.

I guess the bonus for me when I ETS it was from overseas and I had a temp duty station CONUS so I was there for 2 weeks until all the paperwork was done. It was a nice place and a decent paid vacation.

They buy my ticket stateside, then I bought a ticket home for leave. I had the travel office give me a 20+ day layover in Dallas since it is close to home. I bought a ticket from Dallas to Lake Charles. I missed that flight.

The military travel office didn't get screwed since they pay for fully transferable/reimbursable tickets. I pay for the cheapest ones. I got screwed when we had to cancel. For a $150 fee to Orbitz and a $30 fee to the airline and I could have been reimbursed for $180 I paid for the ticket. Brilliant!
