The city I live in does not allow fireworks but the next one over does. We generally head there with the wife's family one night and have a big shoot off and this year we are going to my aunt and uncle's place in the same city. But, there is a burn ban on and their city council said no to fireworks at a meeting today. Now we had rain tonight, not enough in my opinion to lift the ban but we will see. One guy that I know who has a small fireworks stand in the southern part of the state said he has only sold about 5,000 bucks compared to his normal 45,000 at this time and then he doubles that on the 4th weekend. I know a lot of people do the fireworks as a fundraiser for various programs and they are loosing money at the moment. Hate that, but then again we have been so fire prone we can not afford to have unwanted fires. I think about the only place in OK that will have fireworks is the northeastern part of the state and that is because they have had a lot more rain than the rest of the state.

Shooting was a blast, literally. Between me and my brother we had 3 Mosin Nagants, 2 Enfields, a Marling Guide Gun, a Mossberg 590A1, a S&W revolver, a Sig 220 and a conversion kit in 22lr for the Sig. Another guy came to the range and had a original Trapdoor rifle and a Sharps repo. My brother had not shot either so my brother got to shoot both of them and the guy shot my brothers guide gun. Someone at the top range was having at it with a .50 cal too......did not have to see it, just hear it LOL.

I would like to pop a few firecrackers, but what I hate is for the kids who shoot them off won't get to. I guess I was never much on the shooting of fireworks, I would get some but even at a younger age I wanted to shoot a gun to make the pop that I liked. Now my father-in-law is a fireworks finatic---it is his favorite holiday, wrong reason in my opinion, and spends more on it than he does for Christmas and all the other holidays rolled in together. He told me he had about 3,000 in fireworks so far. He buys so many that not only does his kids, grandkids, but kids of those who are attending get to shoot something--that is a neat thing to watch.

I loved fireworks when I was kid. I would fogure out how to blow up everything with firecrackers and m-80's. But here if it flies or explodes it illegal. So nothing fun, ever.

The Mosins are starting to get a little thin. I have heard that the number left to import might only be around 1-2 years worth. Right now the getting is as good as it gets with them about 70 bucks from Aim, then the shipping and transfer fee of course. I see them by the crates here at the gun shows for about 110-120 and you get to look/hold/feel them in hand before you buy which is a big deal to me. Ammo is still pretty cheap, and the cartridge performance is about a .303 Brit, 8mm Mauser and not too far behind the '06.

I want one. I guess i should get off my butt and have one shipped. A lot of history in those things. I wouldn't mind a nagant revolver as well.

Yeah, when we were kids we would buy the plastic army men and set up battlefields, tanks, etc. A lot of Black Cats were used, and no telling how many army guys were sacrificed. But the night stuff did not ever really get my fancy. Guess working for my money then made me understand that new fishing tackle, .22lr shells, etc was more important.

I loved to have bottle rocket fights with my friends. In shop class we would always weld up exotic bottle rocket launchers.

At one time I had over 50 Soviet made weapons that included every version of the Nagant series except a 1907 Clavary Carbine (less than 10 in the States), Tokarev rifle, SKS rifle, AK, AKM, AK74, RPK, RPK 74, Tokarev pistol from WWII, Nagant revolver, a Soviet flare gun, etc. When my wife had the wreck with the 18 wheeler I started selling stuff to stay afloat, then when they found her brain tumor I sold most off to fund meds, specialist, etc. I had some very interesting pieces but nothing worth her love--know what I mean.
