from the way you talked I just thought the steel rods would be handy for you down in Brazil.

Very handy. I plan to add Eze-Lap model M to the "to get list".

Jeff (sumo) and I both have them and really like them. You would think that being a fine (600 grit) they would not take off metal to fast, well it takes it off a lot faster than a regular stone.

And my smiths abrasives course (yellow) hone does a really nice job on reprofiling edges. I have had it for over 13 years now and still going strong. But as I said I still prefer the DMT. I have two dmt folding hones, a fine and a course and they are still doing well also and I have had them longer than the smiths hone!

Yeah I like the looks of it for repairing a rolled edge or maybe a dint. So far with my INFI blades I havent rolled an edge or dinted one, so the ceramic rod and stone has worked really well.

My Bark River Golok didnt fair so well though so the Ezelap would be perfect for it.

When I decide to not be so much of a cheap skate I am going to get that Duosharp double sided DMT hone with the holder base. I think the 8 inch model, or even the 10 inch would be really nice, but personally I think for the money the 8 inch is the better deal.
