Another example of "Something (the meaning)getting lost in the translation". A lot of words or phrases are regional. Like soft drinks. Here in the States in Some places they are soda pops. In others just soda and in still others they are Cokes, no matter WHAT brand or flavor you are talking about. Here where I live many of us say the word Sew dee for Soda. Dialects can be confusing.
